Full Job Description
Position Summary

The Director, Operations and Learning (DOL) oversees the day-to-day activities and the educational program of the Learning and Teaching Nexus (Nexus) at the New York University School of Professional Studies (SPS). The Director manages work to support SPS faculty and advances the NYU SPS Learning Ecosystem across the following areas: Learner-Centric Course Architecture; Goal-Driven Technology Adoption; Incubation of Teaching Initiatives and Experiments; Learning Data and Research; and Course Design and Development Sessions. The Director works with Nexus leadership to ensure that the Nexus services model is comprehensive, coherent, and continuously evolving to meet the needs of the SPS community. The Director supervises and works with direct reports and the staff to align all unit activities around the design, development, and implementation of a broad range of learner-centric educational opportunities. The Director plays a central role in the planning, delivery, and improvement of Nexus resources and experiences to facilitate faculty empowerment. The Director is also responsible for actively contributing to a high performance team-focused culture through modeling and mentorship. Additionally, the Director creates, implements, and revises organizational practices, systems, and policies to maximize effectiveness, efficiency, experimentation, innovation, and Nexus staff development.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in education, business, or related field. or

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree Master's degree in education, business, or related field or

Required Experience:
7+ years experience leading a high-performance agile learning organization (e.g., accelerator/incubator), an education start-up, or a software development unit. Must include experience supervising teams focused on service, learning, and development and experience managing business functions (e.g., finance, human resources, strategic planning).

Preferred Experience:
Training program implementation. Educational resource development. Teaching in higher education. Course development. Curriculum design. Consulting on educational projects (e.g., program development, grant-funded faculty initiatives). or

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Educational psychology, learning sciences, cognition, or related. Service design. Highly detail oriented with strong organizational abilities. Analytical thinking, process development and improvement, and problem-solving. Performance/operation metrics. Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Agile methodologies/project management. Business development. Grant-writing. Online Program Management.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $115,000.00 to USD $155,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
