Job DescriptionWHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?
The Enterprise Chief Controls Office (ECCO) is seeking a Director of Operational Resilience to lead enterprise-wide operational resilience and Business Continuity Management (BCM) programs across RBC's platforms. In this role, you will drive the strategic vision, long-term operational model, and program governance to elevate BCM quality, ensure business consistency, and establish RBC as best-in-class in organizational preparedness and response to disruptions. You will work at the intersection of multiple platforms and business units, establishing standardized methodologies and embedding a culture of operational excellence while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
- Develop, oversee, and drive the 1LOD Operational Resilience lifecycle program across all businesses and functions globally
- Own procedural documents and establish standardized methodologies, procedures, and execution expectations for Operational Resilience activities
- Monitor Operational Resilience outcomes across the Bank and serve as the expert advisor on resiliency requirements
- Lead cross-platform coordination and alignment of IT and Cyber Risk Management, Disaster Recovery, Third-Party Resilience, Process and Service Management, and Crisis Management
- Conduct complex impact, scenario, and resilience analyses, including Business Impact Modeling (BIM), Recovery Time Objective (RTU) validation, and severe-but-plausible scenario testing
- Support regulatory and audit engagements as accountable owner, coordinating evidence, walkthroughs, and remediation outcomes
- Drive training and capability development initiatives to uplift 1LOD resilience maturity
- Prepare periodic reporting on Operational Resilience outcomes and performance metrics
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?
Must have: - 12-15+ years of experience in Operational Resilience, Non-Financial Risk, or BCM within large, complex financial institutions, with direct accountability for 1LOD execution and capability uplift
- Demonstrated experience leading regulatory remediation and resilience uplift initiatives, translating regulatory expectations into practical, executable programs
- Proven capability in designing, embedding, and operating enterprise-wide resilience and BCM frameworks, including methodologies, procedures, standards, and execution models
- Strong understanding of global regulatory requirements related to Operational Resilience, BCM, disaster recovery, third-party resilience, and incident/crisis management
- Excellent executive-level communication skills with the ability to articulate complex resilience concepts to senior management, regulators, and cross-functional partners
Nice-to-have:
- MBA, CRM, CPA, CIA, FRM, or CFA designation
- Experience establishing enterprise monitoring, reporting, and metrics (e.g., KRIs, resilience indicators)
- Proven ability to lead cross-platform and cross-business coordination within centralized teams and shared services
- Familiarity with Operational Resilience, BCM, and incident management tools and platforms
