Full Job Description

Your Team, Your Impact

As Generative AI continues to advance, the performance drivers for data center infrastructure are shifting from systems-on-chip (SOCs) to systems of chips. In the era of Accelerated Computing, data center bottlenecks are no longer limited to compute performance, but rather the system’s interconnect bandwidth, memory bandwidth, and memory capacity. Photonic Fabric™ is the next-generation interconnect technology that delivers a tenfold increase in performance and energy efficiency compared to competing solutions

What You Can Expect

This is a hands-on technical leadership role. The ideal candidate leads from the bench — personally contributing to test development, debug, and execution, while also guiding a team of Optical Test Engineers and Photonics Systems Test Engineers.

Hands-On Technical Execution

  • Develop and debug wafer-scale and die-level high-speed (56 Gbps+/lane) optical and electrical measurement setups, including BER testing, eye-diagram analysis, and S-parameter measurements.
  • Author and review automation scripts for instrument control and data processing.

Wafer-Level Probe Operations and NPI

  • Own the end-to-end operation, maintenance, and roadmap of wafer-scale probe stations, including vendor liaison, continuous improvement, and calibration protocols.
  • Lead data infrastructure setup to handle, archive, and analyze large-volume prober outputs.
  • Support NPI by driving correlation between wafer-level test, sub-system characterization, and system-level validation.

System Photonics Validation and Characterization

  • Plan and execute Photonics DVT testing on Marvell’s Photonic Fabric scale-up networking products
  • Lead the design and implementation of product test platforms that support NPI, bring-up and reliability assessment.

Team Management & Development

  • Recruit, mentor, and manage a team of Optical Test and Photonics Systems Test Engineers.
  • Build cross-functional relationships with ASIC design, AMS design, and packaging teams to improve device performance and test coverage.

What We're Looking For

Specialized Technical Skills

  • Deep, hands-on experience with commercial wafer-scale probe stations (e.g., Cascade/FormFactor, MPI, or equivalent) — this is a core requirement. Candidates must have direct, personal experience operating, configuring, and maintaining SiPh wafer-level probe systems.
  • Hands-on experience automating test setups using Python (preferred), MATLAB, LabVIEW, or C#, and strong proficiency with data analysis tools such as JMP or DataConductor.
  • Strong experience in system level test plan definition and execution, preferably for transceiver products involving systems with DSP/TIA/Driver with PICs, and high-speed (56 Gbps+/lane) measurement such as BER testing, eye-diagram analysis, and S-parameter characterization.
  • Knowledge of integrated photonics and ray-tracing optics and design is a plus.

Leadership & Management

Demonstrated experience managing and growing technical engineering teams in a semiconductor or photonics environment, with the ability to balance hands-on execution with strategic leadership.

Expected Base Pay Range (USD)

195,180 - 292,400, $ per annum

The successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location and market conditions. The expected base pay range for this role may be modified based on market conditions.

Additional Compensation and Benefit Elements

Marvell is committed to providing exceptional, comprehensive benefits that support our employees at every stage - from internship to retirement and through life’s most important moments. Our offerings are built around four key pillars: financial well-being, family support, mental and physical health, and recognition. Highlights include an employee stock purchase plan with a 2-year look back, family support programs to help balance work and home life, robust mental health resources to prioritize emotional well-being, and a recognition and service awards to celebrate contributions and milestones. We look forward to sharing more with you during the interview process.

Interview Integrity

To support fair and authentic hiring practices, candidates are not permitted to use AI tools (such as transcription apps, real-time answer generators like ChatGPT or Copilot, or automated note-taking bots) during interviews.

These tools must not be used to record, assist with, or enhance responses in any way.
