Full Job Description
The Opportunity

As an industry leader in Colorado, we are seeking a Director of Talent to sit at the dynamic intersection of our people and our business. In this vital leadership role, you will help protect and refine our culture by overseeing the full spectrum of our Talent and Training operations, including talent management, organizational development, employee relations, talent acquisition, and compliance.

This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact: you will champion our people, develop strategies that drive continued success, and build a supportive environment where great talent can do their best work and actively grow their careers. If you are a leader who thrives on building accountable and high-performing workplaces by digging deep into the details and also stepping back to identify and assess broader opportunities, you will find a highly rewarding home with us. We strive to find, promote and develop leaders who lead by example; who want to fundamentally understand the most basic functions of their teams and our business; and who are also curious and energized by the opportunity to build, grow and innovate.

The position offers a path for continued leadership growth, with the potential for advancement to Vice President based on demonstrated performance, organizational impact, and readiness for broader responsibilities.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will align our people strategy with our core business objectives. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Drive Talent Strategy: Partner closely with leadership to translate our mission and business strategy into actionable talent initiatives. You will monitor industry trends, evaluate workforce data, and act as a trusted advisor on organizational effectiveness and performance.
  • Lead Talent Management & Development: Design and execute a comprehensive talent framework encompassing performance evaluations, succession planning, and robust training programs (from onboarding to advanced leadership development).
  • Navigate Complex Employee Relations: Provide expert guidance on employee relations, conflict resolution, investigations, and performance concerns, ensuring consistent, objective resolution in alignment with company policies and employment laws.
  • Oversee Talent Acquisition: Establish effective recruiting strategies and innovative sourcing approaches to build strong pipelines of top-tier talent. You will continuously evaluate and improve the candidate experience and hiring efficiency.
  • Manage Compliance & Risk: Ensure strict compliance with all federal, state, and local employment, compensation and safety laws. You will proactively identify talent-related risks and continuously improve HR processes, policies, and systems to mitigate them.
  • Direct the Talent & Training Teams: Lead, coach, and develop our internal HR and Training professionals. You will allocate resources, establish clear performance expectations, and foster a highly collaborative, service-oriented culture.

What You Bring

To be successful in this role, you will bring progressive HR expertise, strong consulting skills, and a data-driven approach to problem-solving. We are looking for candidates who possess:

  • Progressive HR Leadership: 10+ years of progressive talent management experience encompassing complex employee relations, performance management, coaching, succession planning, and a basic understanding of payroll. (A Bachelor's degree is required; SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification is preferred).
  • Executive Consulting Skills: Proven ability to influence, advise, and build strong, collaborative relationships with business leaders across all levels of the organization.
  • Strategic & Analytical Thinking: Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to leverage workforce metrics, external benchmarking, and employee feedback to inform strategic talent decisions.
  • Change Management & Adaptability: A demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, create structure, and manage change effectively within a fast-paced environment.
  • Program & Project Management: Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple strategic priorities, design company-wide initiatives, and drive continuous improvement across the HR function.
  • Technical Fluency: Advanced proficiency with HRIS platforms, talent management systems, Google Workspace, and the Microsoft Office Suite.

Your Education & Experience

We believe there are specific educational backgrounds and professional experiences necessary or strongly preferred in order to be successful in this position.

Necessary:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
  • 10+ years of talent management and HR experience, encompassing complex employee relations, performance management, talent development, coaching, and succession planning.
  • Proven experience designing, implementing, and supporting company-wide talent management programs and initiatives.
  • Strong leadership, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills, with the proven ability to influence and advise executives and management at all levels.
  • Strong critical thinking, conflict management, and reasoning skills, including the ability to use data to inform talent decisions and navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple priorities, create structure, manage change, meet strict deadlines, and maintain high attention to detail.
  • Solid knowledge of employment laws and talent management practices, paired with advanced proficiency in HRIS and talent management systems, Google Workspace, and the Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred:

  • SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification.
