Director of Supply Chain

About this Opportunity:

The Director of Supply Chain will have responsibility over the Planning, Purchasing, and Logistics teams for 3 California-based (San Jose, Rancho Cordova, Stockton) Vantedge Medical sites. This role will need to have a deep focus on building structured and sustainable supply chain processes and solutions. We are looking for someone who is process focused, who collaborates well with others, has attention to detail, can aggressively drive improvements, takes ownership, and has high internal expectations.

Responsibilities:

Process and Technology Development
  • Ability to identify gaps and improvements
  • Lead best practice solutions that improve on-time delivery and other operational metrics
  • Evaluate current use of MRP system and drive best practice use to ensure reliable demand and supply signals
  • Ensure defined and accurate master data that drive reliable MRP signals

Planning
  • Execute production scheduling processes related to work order releases, management, sequencing, visual management, and frozen schedule
  • Execute production scheduling processes related to daily production attainment and accountability across functions
  • Ensure execution of capacity (equipment and labor) planning and dispatch reporting across sites
  • Manage inventory PFEP and drive site projects to reduce inventory levels
  • Develop standard and ad-hoc supply/demand analyses to support projects or customer inquiries/commitments

Purchasing
  • Execute purchasing processes related to purchase order releases, buyer exception messages, and vendor performance management

Strategic Sourcing
  • Proactively identify indirect and direct purchasing cost savings projects, track savings, and mitigate cost increases
  • Support NPI and estimating in RFQs to suppliers for large projects
  • Conduct Quarterly Business Reviews and utilize Supplier Scorecards to improve and monitor performance
  • Develop long-range commodity strategies in alignment with strategic business objectives

Collaboration / Problem-Solving / Strategy
  • Collaborates in a proactive manner with production, engineering, and quality to develop and implement site improvements
  • Drives consensus building, clear focus, and follow-through on execution
  • Develops site supply chain strategy and effectively communicates to team and across functions

Logistics
  • Evaluate and implement optimized warehouse design and operations
  • Ensure on-time receiving, kitting, and shipments to customers
  • Establish cycle-time program and maintain 95%+ IRA

Talent Development
  • Coaches and develops supply chain talent bringing a structured approach to talent development
  • Regularly reviews supply chain org to identify needs and gaps; acts quickly on identified changes
  • Defines roles and responsibilities, sets clear expectations, and supports team in conflict resolution
  • Train and coach teams on use of MRP system and planning, purchasing, and logistics processes
  • Coach planning teams on proactive planning collaboration and approaches
  • Develop appropriate standard work and SOPs related to job duties
  • Identify and develop tools and/or accountability methodologies to ensure process adherence

Customer Communication
  • Primary communicator to strategic customers on capacity and supply related projects or requirements

Supply Chain Center of Excellence (COE)
  • Active participant in development of supply chain strategic imperatives including data analytics and S&OP
  • Works collaboratively with corporate supply chain COE team on implementing best practices and improving supply chain maturity


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, engineering, operations management, or related field required
  • 10 years' experience in supply chain
  • 5 years' experience in production planning
  • Strong history of process development
  • Demonstrated change management and transformational change experience
  • Strong communicator internally and externally; able to address and resolve problems and conflict with ease
  • Ability to strongly influence teams cross-functionally
  • Ability to use data and standardize the use of data to drive improved decision-making
  • Ability to travel up to 20% primarily to Rancho Cordova and Stockton sites including some supplier visits (primarily local)
