Full Job Description
About Take Command

Take Command is a start-up on a mission to improve the healthcare system, starting with health insurance. Pragmatically speaking, we help employers reimburse employees for individual insurance instead of offering a traditional one-size-fits-all group plan. We believe this model can empower employees (when they have the right support) to be savvy healthcare consumers and have a transformative impact on the entire healthcare system.

Let's be honest-health insurance is usually a confusing, frustrating, and even emotional experience for people. We want to fix that with a new model, great technology, and a superior user experience. We have made a great start, but we need your help to fully realize our long-term vision.

About The Role

We are seeking a strategic, analytical, and highly collaborative leader to drive company-wide planning, growth initiatives, and business insights. This role will be responsible for aligning strategic priorities with our Vision/Traction Organizer (V/TO), evaluating new market opportunities, leading M&A diligence, and supporting cross-functional execution of key initiatives. You'll work closely with senior leadership to translate high-level strategy into measurable plans, develop financial models to inform decisions, and deliver insights on market trends and innovation across healthcare, benefits, and SaaS. This is a high-impact role for a systems thinker who thrives in ambiguity, brings clarity to complex challenges, and enjoys partnering across teams to accelerate growth.

Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Planning & Execution
You'll support the development and execution of strategic initiatives across the business. From evaluating new opportunities to helping refine our growth roadmap, you'll collaborate with cross-functional leaders to turn high-level vision into concrete action plans.
2. Growth Initiatives
Work closely with the VP of Strategy to assess and prioritize new growth opportunities, including new market segments, product offerings, or go-to-market channels. You'll own research, modeling, and early testing to validate assumptions and inform investment decisions.
3. Market & Client Insights
Use qualitative and quantitative analysis to deeply understand customer needs, market trends, and the competitive landscape. You'll support segmentation efforts, customer interviews, and internal data dives that inform product and partnership decisions.
4. Cross-Functional Leadership
You'll serve as a key connector across teams. From operations to marketing to product, you'll ensure alignment and accountability on high-priority strategic initiatives. This may include developing project timelines, tracking KPIs, and surfacing blockers.
5. Partnership Evaluation & Support
Assist in evaluating and managing potential strategic partners. Help define partnership criteria, conduct vendor and partner assessments, and prepare executive-level materials to support decision-making.
6. Business Case Development
Build financial models and strategic business cases to support new initiatives. You'll be relied on to break down complex ideas and communicate them clearly with stakeholders to guide resource allocation

What You Bring
  • 5+ years of experience in strategy, consulting, corporate development, or a related role (healthcare or startup experience is a plus)
  • Demonstrated ability to own complex projects from idea through implementation
  • Strong business acumen with a strategic mindset and a bias toward action
  • Highly analytical with experience building business cases, models, or customer segmentation
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; able to work cross-functionally and influence without authority
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and eager to tackle big challenges in a growing company

Working at Take Command

We're excited to build a team and culture that reflects our values! We offer competitive pay and health benefits to share with this position.
  • A generously funded ICHRA for medical, dental, and vision premiums and medical expenses. You get to use our own product and we think that's so exciting and rare!
  • Unlimited personal vacation in addition to regular company holidays.
  • 401(k): 90-day eligibility for 4% match that vests over 4 years with a one year cliff!
  • We have two beautiful offices in Richardson, Texas (City Line) and Austin, Texas. The kitchen is well-stocked and we've designed the space to have lots of different areas to work--lounge on the couch, stand near your colleague at a kiosk desk or hole up in one of our phone rooms!
  • Paid parental leave for new parents.
  • Flexible on where you work - we hope to see you around the office on average 3 days a week especially when white-boarding or building relationships with your colleagues, but you also have the ability to work from home or wherever you'd like when you need to get focus work done.

We've been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Dallas Morning News, and other national healthcare publications and are excited about our growth opportunities.

Take Command knows diversity and inclusion among our teammates is integral to our company's success and growth. Our vision is to recruit, develop, and retain the best team from a diverse candidate pool.

This has mostly been about us, but we'd love to hear from you--we can't wait to hear your story!
