Educational and Experience Requirement

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Software Engineering required. Five years of experience in software engineering, systems integration, or technology delivery, including experience in a leadership or program management capacity, required. Experience in a state institution of higher education is desirable. Additional education may be considered in lieu of experience.

Nature & Purpose of Position

Performs complex and highly advanced managerial work providing direction and guidance for the university's custom development, enterprise integration, and artificial intelligence execution functions within the Division of Information Technology.

Primary Responsibilities

Provides strategic vision, technical leadership, and operational management for custom software development, enterprise integration architecture, and artificial intelligence (AI) strategy and execution. Directs the design, development, testing, and deployment of internally built applications and automation solutions aligned with institutional priorities and the information technology (IT) innovation lifecycle. Oversees the architecture and governance of integration platforms, artificial programming interfaces (APIs), and data exchange frameworks connecting enterprise systems across the university. Leads the identification, piloting, and scaled implementation of AI-assisted workflows and intelligent automation, ensuring responsible use and alignment with institutional values. Establishes and enforces engineering standards, development methodologies, code quality practices, and security-by-design principles across all solution delivery activities. Collaborates with peers to ensure cohesive, end-to-end solution delivery from concept through production handoff; ensures newly delivered solutions are documented, transition-ready, and supportable prior to production release. Manages team performance, professional development, and project capacity planning within the Solution Engineering group. Develops, monitors, and reports on delivery metrics and quality indicators for the engineering portfolio. Responsible for budget planning, resource allocation, and vendor coordination for tools, platforms, and contracted services. Ensures compliance with applicable state and federal laws, accessibility standards, security frameworks, and University policy. Serves on committees as requested. Performs other related duties as assigned.
