Full Job Description
** Internal Posting**

The North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) seeks a strategic and results-oriented Director of Sales(West) to lead statewide sales operations and drive revenue growth through effective leadership, retailer engagement, and operational excellence. This position provides strategic direction to Sales Districts, develops high-performing teams, and collaborates across the organization to maximize proceeds for education while ensuring compliance with NCEL policies and responsible gaming initiatives.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Sales Leadership
  • Develop and execute statewide sales strategies to achieve revenue and retailer growth objectives
  • Analyze key performance metrics, market trends, and forecasts to identify opportunities and improve sales performance
  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, continuous improvement, and exceptional retailer service


Sales Operations & Technology
  • Oversee implementation and optimization of sales technologies, including vending solutions and Sales Wizard
  • Monitor sales performance, inventory, and out-of-stock reporting to maximize product availability and sales
  • Utilize dashboards and analytics to support data-driven decision-making


Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop Regional Sales Managers and Field Sales teams
  • Establish performance expectations, conduct evaluations, and provide ongoing mentoring
  • Recruit, onboard, and retain high-performing sales professionals


Retailer Development & Compliance
  • Expand and strengthen the retail network through strategic recruitment and onboarding initiatives
  • Partner with Retailer Contracts and Operations to improve retailer support and operational efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with NCEL policies, retailer regulations, claims processing, and payment procedures
  • Participate in retailer reviews and sanction decisions as appropriate


Training & Corporate Partnerships
  • Coordinate statewide training programs, sales workshops, and leadership development initiatives
  • Manage strategic relationships with corporate accounts and chain retailers to support long-term growth
  • Develop and manage the annual sales budget and support cross-functional business initiatives


Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Marketing, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive sales leadership experience; lottery, retail, or consumer packaged goods experience preferred
  • Demonstrated success leading sales organizations in a high-volume, performance-driven environment
  • Strong analytical, forecasting, planning, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, and relationship-building abilities
  • Knowledge of retail sales operations, compliance standards, and customer engagement
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and business intelligence, CRM, and sales management systems


Hiring Rate: $ 122, 646 (this position will be filled at or near the posted range)
