POSITION: Director of SalesREPORTS TO: Chief Sales Officer Position SummaryManage all aspects of local sales to meet or exceed company goals for a Market's sales and profitability. Plan and direct the implementation of sales strategies and tactics aimed at sustained sales and margin growth.
Essential Functions- Lead, develop and drive the defined sales team to achieve above average sustainable profitable growth and protect existing business by effectively leveraging our Core Competencies.
- Develop long-term sales strategies to improve market penetration and ensure future growth identifying and prioritizing growing Markets/Brands/Customers and Categories. Plan and decide on the optimal resource allocation in line with the Business Unit's strategies.
- Act as a key role model to the sales team, displaying a high degree of energy and entrepreneurial drive across a range of subjects and disciplines (including but not limited to: Negotiation, Planning and Project Management, Finance (Pricing, Margins, Trading Terms, and Value Chain Understanding, etc.), Supply Chain, Forecasting, Marketing and Brand understanding, Applications and Technical understanding).
- Define and promote a vision and mission for the sales force, giving purpose, a shared sense of direction and cohesion to the sales team.
- Develop a winning sales strategy based on company business plans and objectives.
- Plan and decide on the optimal resource allocation in line with the strategy.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities.
- Identify causes of success and failure in processes, projects, plans and their implementation to build on strengths and to reduce weaknesses.
- Deliver the sales and gross profit budgets.
- Establish close and effective relationships with our major and target customers' top management.
- Constantly review the existing sales territories, including new customer opportunities and develop, update the sales force allocation.
- Develop, in cooperation with the Sales leader, long-term customer development plans for key customers to become strategic partners and to ensure achievement of the budget.
- Manage the annual budgeting process ensuring all information is captured and agreed.
- Assess and evaluate information to identify and forecast market trends, issues and developments that might affect the business.
- Advise and inform on customer activities, customer brands, market trends and competitor's activities to aid strategic planning.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications (Education/Experience)- BS in Business or related field, MBA a plus.
- Minimum of 8 years in sales or sales management, with at least five years in supervisory role.
- Extensive knowledge of the snacking industry in retail, grocery, and wholesale clubs is required.
- Customer experience with Walmart & Sam's Club.
- Ideal candidate has experience that includes collaboration in a virtual environment.
- Extensive knowledge of the food service industry and profit & loss management, planning and analysis.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including presentation ability.
- High energy, creativity, leadership, and motivational skills.
- Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Work Location: Minneapolis, MN or Remote - travel expected 25-50%
