Centennial Peaks Hospital has been providing psychiatric services to the Denver-metro area for more than 30 years. Located in beautiful Louisville, CO, our 104-bed facility provides a peaceful setting for those seeking treatment for mental illness including chemical dependency. Centennial Peaks offers unique and individualized programming for adults that sets us apart from many other treatment facilities. Our dynamic leadership team includes several Licensed Social Workers and a seasoned nursing department. Our hospital is fortunate to provide Electroconvulsive Therapy, Intensive Outpatient and Partial Hospitalization Programs in addition to inpatient services.

The Director of Risk Management is responsible for the ongoing, effective operation of various patient safety and risk management activities. This role is responsible for coordinating the loss control efforts and advising management and administration on all potential sources of loss and for making recommendations to minimize or eliminate exposure. The Director of Risk Management acts as the hospital's Compliance Officer and coordinates with the Director of Quality & Performance Improvement on hospital-wide action plans and corrective actions. The structure and functions of the position are designed to comply with guidelines and standards of the Joint Commission, CDPHE, BHA, and other regulatory agencies.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Risk identification and evaluation: Ensures appropriate and timely reporting of occurrences by maintaining a Healthcare Peer Review Reporting system (Occurrence notification system); enters incidents into the MIDAS Database; Identifies actual and potential risk situations and facilitates the determination of causative factors; Receives and investigates reports of product problem to determine appropriate response and establish record keeping responsibilities. In the event of patient injury, establishes direction from Corporate Risk Management in the appropriate action for defense strategy
  • Risk reduction: Networks with department directors to implement system changes aimed at optimally reducing or eliminating causative factors;
  • Claims management: Assists Executive Director in facilitating the processing of summons and complaints served on the hospital and its employees; Coordinates investigation of claims within the facility
  • Committee participation: Patient Safety Committee and Environment of Care/Safety
  • Reporting, report preparation and submission: Provides aggregate analysis of risk management data and trend analysis of incidents.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field. RN or Master's degree in healthcare-related field preferred.

Experience : Five (5) years' experience in risk management in a hospital setting. Three (3) years' management experience. Must include knowledge of healthcare regulatory standards.

Additional Requirements: A strong knowledge of JOINT COMMISSION, TDSHS, CMS standards, and other applicable federal and state laws and regulations governing mental health care facilities.
