Director of Revenue Engagement- Anesthesia- Patient Financial Services-Corporate 42nd Street -Full-Time Days

The Director of Revenue Engagement acts as a critical liaison between Hospitals, Ambulatory Care Sites, and Physician-Based Practices (PBP) and Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) operations. This role is responsible for reviewing, assessing, and optimizing processes across the entire revenue cycle-including registration, pre-authorization, coding, billing, collections, reimbursement, and financial analysis-to drive revenue performance, cash collections, and regulatory compliance. This position requires strong leadership, analytical acumen, and deep expertise in both professional and hospital billing processes.

Responsibilities

Revenue Cycle Strategy & Optimization
• Evaluate and improve end-to-end revenue cycle functions, from patient scheduling and registration through to final payment and resolution of accounts.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce denials, and increase collections.
• Collaborate closely with operational leadership across Hospitals, Ambulatory Care Settings, PBP, RCM, and other Mount Sinai divisions to improve revenue cycle performance.
• Partner with hospital leadership, ambulatory leadership, department/institute/service line leaders, providers and practice staff to promote engagement and alignment with RCM goals.

Stakeholder Collaboration
• Develop strong, collaborative relationships with cross-functional stakeholders including DTP, Human Performance, Managed Care, Finance, and clinical departments.
• Work with finance and managed care teams to improve registration, coding, and billing accuracy and performance.
• Support clinical leaders and administrators by providing education on revenue cycle best practices and insurance verification procedures.

Denials Management & Process Improvement
• Investigate denial trends and develop innovative solutions to reduce occurrences and improve resolution.
• Drive adoption of best practices, process improvements, and technology enhancements to improve performance and compliance.

Data Analysis & Reporting
• Analyze revenue data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
• Provide regular financial and operational reports to senior leadership, including analysis of actual vs. expected performance metrics.
• Present actionable insights and recommendations to leadership and governance committees.

Technology & System Integration
• Collaborate with IT and system vendors to ensure optimal performance of revenue cycle systems and seamless integration with other platforms.

Compliance & Risk Management
• Ensure adherence to federal and state billing and coding regulations, including HIPAA, CMS, DOH/OMH, and payer requirements.
• Implement internal policies and controls to minimize revenue cycle risk and maintain compliance.
• Stay current on regulatory changes and guide necessary updates to internal processes.

Team Leadership
• Lead, mentor, and support revenue cycle and engagement staff.
• Provide training and career development opportunities to foster team growth and effectiveness.

Compensation Statement

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $139,748.00 - $209,622.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
