Overview

WHO are we looking for?

CAPTRUST is seeking a Director of Quantitative Research & Analytics to serve as a senior leader within the Investment Group. Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, this role will shape and advance quantitative research across asset classes and client segments. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise, practical institutional investment judgment, and the ability to translate sophisticated analysis into clear, actionable recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead quantitative research supporting security selection, portfolio construction, risk management, strategic asset allocation, and CAPTRUST's broader investment platform
  • Build and oversee stock models, valuation tools, research dashboards, and 10-year Capital Market Assumption frameworks
  • Develop risk and simulation capabilities, including Value-at-Risk, Monte Carlo and historical simulation, stress testing, scenario analysis, and back testing
  • Strengthen investment data architecture, governance, quality assurance, documentation, and reproducible research workflows
  • Integrate quantitative insights with fundamental research; support external manager due diligence and ongoing monitoring
  • Contribute quantitative perspectives to the firm's investment philosophy, market outlook, quarterly House Views, and portfolio positioning
  • Evaluate AI, machine learning, alternative data, and emerging technologies that can improve research quality or efficiency
  • Present actionable conclusions to investment committees, leadership, advisors, and colleagues; mentor staff and lead assigned strategic projects


Qualifications

Minimum Qualification:
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline and a master's degree in quantitative finance, financial engineering, applied mathematics, statistics, data science, economics, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of experience with advanced institutional investment teams in research, portfolio management, quantitative investing, or a related function.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python and R; expertise in stochastic calculus, Monte Carlo simulation, applied statistics, econometrics, and time series analysis.
  • Experience building and validating institutional investment models, with strong data management, governance, documentation, and quality assurance skills.
  • Fluency in Bloomberg and FactSet, plus exceptional written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated leadership, sound investment judgment, and the ability to influence effectively across teams and organizational levels.

Desired Qualifications/Skills:
  • CFA designation; experience with Capital Market Assumptions, strategic asset allocation, portfolio optimization, factor modeling, and multi-asset risk analysis.
  • Experience with dashboards and visualization tools, cloud computing, version control, modern data engineering, AI or machine learning, alternative data, and private markets analytics.
  • Experience conducting external manager due diligence and managing multiple priorities in a collaborative investment environment.
