Full Job Description
The Director of Quality -- North American Components (NAC) provides strategic and operational leadership for Quality across the Business Unit. The role is accountable for customer and supplier quality, Quality Management Systems, operational quality, risk management, compliance, and continuous improvement.

As a strategic partner to the Business Unit President and leadership team, the Director integrates Quality into business strategy, operational execution, customer and supplier management, acquisitions, and growth initiatives. The role establishes a consistent Quality culture and ensures effective deployment of AFC's Corporate Quality strategy, standards, and systems while building a scalable organization capable of supporting continued business growth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Business Unit Quality Strategy: Develop and execute the North American Components Quality strategy aligned with the overall AFC Quality Vision and Business Unit strategic
  • Quality Leadership Across the Business Unit: Provide leadership and governance across all NAC locations. Establish common processes, standards, metrics, and expectations across the Business Unit while allowing appropriate flexibility for individual site
  • Customer Quality: Ensure the Components Business Unit consistently meets or exceeds customer quality expectations.
  • Supplier Quality: Partner with Procurement and Supplier Quality to improve supplier performance and reduce supplier-related quality issues.
  • Quality Management System: Ensure the NAC organization maintains an effective, scalable, and compliant Quality Management System.
  • Cost of Poor Quality: Lead the Business Unit's effort to measure, understand, and reduce Cost of Poor Quality.
  • Continuous Improvement: Partner with Business Unit Operations and Continuous Improvement leadership to drive quality improvement.
  • Quality Escalation Leadership: Serve as the Business Unit Quality leader during significant quality events.
  • New Business / New Product / Business Development Support: Provide Quality leadership during: New customer acquisition, new product introduction, new service implementation, VMI implementation, & major process changes
  • Ensure quality requirements, risks, controls, and customer expectations are understood before launch.
  • Quality Organization & Talent Development: Build a high-performing Business Unit Quality organization.
  • Corporate Quality Alignment: Act as the primary Quality representative for the North American Components Business Unit with Corporate Quality.
  • Quality Culture: Champion the AFC Quality culture throughout the Business
  • Follow applicable policies, procedures, and work
  • Support department and continual improvement
  • Execute all other duties as

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Environment: Manufacturing/Distribution/Office/Hybrid/Onsite

Physical Requirements: Moderate ability to sit and work at a computer, frequent use of keyboard, mouse, telephone, and other office equipment in a combination of an uncontrolled/controlled environment, moderate standing, walking, bending, squatting, reaching, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds from floor to overhead lifting

PPE: As required by specific site

Travel Requirements: 30-50%, or as needed

QUALIFICATIONS & Competence

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Distribution, or related discipline preferred

Experience:

  • 8-10 years of progressive Quality
  • 5+ years of Quality leadership
  • Experience leading multi-site Quality organizations
  • Experience working with OEM and industrial
  • Experience with supplier quality and customer
  • Experience with ISO 9001-based Quality Management
  • Experience leading organizational transformation and continuous
  • Experience in fasteners, C-Class components, industrial distribution, VMI, kitting, light assembly, aerospace, automotive, or related industries strongly preferred.
  • Experience working within a multi-site organization
