  • Own forecasting for infrastructure spend across our products, including infrastructure software and other key cost drivers.
  • Build and refine the financial framework that connects product usage, model behavior, inference settings, and infrastructure decisions to compute utilization, infrastructure costs, and product margins.
  • Develop clear insight into the tradeoffs between customer experience, growth, and profitability, including how latency, throughput, batching, model routing, and token usage affect margin performance.
  • Develop frameworks to evaluate ROI on compute and infrastructure spend across products, features, model settings, and user segments, and use those insights to inform investment and optimization decisions.
  • Create a durable cross-functional forum for compute economics, bringing together product, infrastructure, capacity planning, and finance to inform allocation, utilization, and margin tradeoffs.Lead weekly margin reviews and monthly BvA analysis, and partner with Accounting and Corporate Finance to align internal metrics and reporting.
  • Prepare high-quality materials for executive and Board-level discussions.

You might thrive in this role if you have:
  • 12+ years of experience in investment banking, consulting, or buy-side investing coupled with operational experience at a fast-paced, scaling company.
  • A strong ability to critically evaluate opportunities and risks in financials.
  • The ability to distill complex financial data into actionable insights and effectively communicate with leadership.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to craft compelling narratives using data.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.
  • Familiarity with business models and metrics relevant to OpenAI.
  • Enthusiasm for technology and artificial intelligence.
  • Extensively used AI.
