IDEAL CANDIDATE
Qualifications
• Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree of Science from an accredited college or university with major coursework related to electric utility operations, a minimum of twelve years of increasingly responsible experience in electrical utility operations, and a minimum five years of supervisory experience. Electrical Engineering Degree preferred.
• Special Qualifications: Possession of a valid Colorado Driver's License, or ability to attain within 6 months. Professional Engineering License is preferred.
Pay, Hours & Benefits
• 2026 HIRING RANGE: $15,881 - $17,646/MONTH • Monday - Friday, evenings and weekends as needed
• Position allows for remote work, but also requires in-person presence for scheduled days as well as on-demand assignments, work team requirements, and/or meetings. Required to report to work in-person during snow or other emergency closures.

The Director of Power Delivery and Operations leads their division by managing the functions, administration, and personnel in the overall power delivery and operations of electric services to the Longmont community.
The ideal candidate excels at providing direct leadership and vision to electric line crews, electric meter staff, substation personnel, vegetation management crews, and warehouse/material service functions. This candidate will leverage their skills and abilities to provide safe, reliable, affordable, and environmentally sustainable service and accountability to the community. Expertise in communication, strategic planning, negotiation, mediation, and public speaking skills will be instrumental in the candidate driving the organizational goals and in making decisions effectively under pressure. Knowledge of budgetary processes will aid in achieving these goals.
This candidate also brings expertise in building effective partnerships with community agencies, groups, and businesses, partner City departments, neighboring cities and utilities, county and state government, and individuals.
Principal Duties The Director of Power Delivery & Operations is accountable for all duties of this job and other projects and responsibilities may be added at the City's discretion.
• Manage the personnel responsible for:
• The construction, inspection, operations, and maintenance of the LPC electric overhead and underground infrastructure, including 12.47/7.2 kV distribution system, metering, and warehouse and materials.
• In collaboration with the LPC Safety and Training Manager, the division's training programs, including the apprentice line worker program, the meter technician program, the substation worker program, and relevant programs that support advanced metering systems and workplace safety.
• Oversee the vegetation management functions necessary to maintain line clearances in support of the safe and reliable operation of overhead electric infrastructure.
• Provide general and technical supervision to personnel. Evaluate performance and recommend/implement appropriate personnel action.
• Ensure that staff understand and adhere to work practices that comply with the LPC Safety Manual, local, State, and Federal regulations, requirements, and specifications and other relevant safe work practices and procedures.
• Train, develop, guide and mentor employees toward improved performance in a manner consistent with City values and expectations.
• Practice an inclusive supervisory style with people from a variety of backgrounds, ethnic or racial groups, age groups, personality styles, and genders.
• Build alliances, foster effective teamwork, and build constructive relationships within and between individuals and other work groups.

• Coordinate division activities with other Department Divisions, City Departments, customers, and outside agencies.
• Periodically attend City Council, Platte River Power Authority, and other board meetings, and make effective presentations as needed.

Principal Duties Continued... • Make critical decisions to resolve emergency conditions
resulting from electrical distribution system malfunctions, inclement weather, and other situations that adversely affect delivery of power from the substations to the meter
• May serve as LPC representative on inter-departmental City committees and inter-agency committees including the Colorado Association of Municipal Utilities (CAMU), the American Public Power Association (APPA), Alltricity, Platte River Power Authority (PRPA) Joint Technical Advisory Committee (JTAC), and other industry organizations.
• Participate in, and/or oversee, develop, and implement design, maintenance, construction standards, specifications, and work practices related to the electrical distribution systems.
• Prepare, monitor, and administer the division's annual budget. Develop and implement the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) development work plan. Guide and direct division staff in the implementation of programs, budget development and implementation.
• Develop and implement goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for the Division in accordance with the Department and City vision, planning and customer needs. Establish policies, procedures, and long-range plans for the division.
• Develop, support, and enhance cooperation and trust within the division in pursuit of Department and City organizational goals and mission.
• Resolve the most difficult and pervasive customer issues. Evaluate operations and customer service and make appropriate changes as needed.
• Act as project manager for major division/department programs and projects.
• Act as LPC Director of Electric Services as needed.
Perform principal duties and additional tasks in a manner which enhances City Attributes.

The City pays the full cost of employee basic life and accidental death and dismemberment coverage.
Life benefits under each plan are equal to 1½ times the employee's annual base salary up to a
maximum of $250,000 each.
> Long Term Disability
The City pays the full cost of employee Long-Term Disability benefits at 60% base monthly pay to a
maximum benefit of $10,000 per month through UNUM.
> Supplemental Insurance
Employees may purchase additional insurance products for themselves and eligible dependents
through AFLAC.
> Family and Medical Leave
Qualified employees may use Family & Medical Leave for personal or family events that necessitate an
absence from work under the provisions of the Family & Medical Leave Act.
PLANNING FOR YOUR FUTURE
> City Pension
Both the employee and the City contribute to a defined benefit pension plan. The employee contributes
6% of base salary (before taxes) and the City contributes as required to provide for future retirement
benefits. Employees are 100% vested in their contributions and become fully vested in the Plan after 5
years of service.
> Money Purchase Plan
Both the employee and the City contribute to a defined contribution money purchase plan. The
employee contributes 6% of base salary (before taxes). The City contributes 5%. Employees are 100%
vested in their own contributions and are fully vested in the Plan after 3 years of service. Investments
are self-directed by employees.
> Section 457 Investment Plan
The City offers employees an optional Deferred Compensation Plan, which defers federal and some
state income taxes until retirement. Employees direct their funds into several investment options
provided through ICMA. This plan includes a Roth contribution option.
TIME FOR YOURSELF
> Vacation
Full-time employees earn 96 hours of vacation annually for the first two years of employment.
Additional vacation time is accrued after two years. Those with relative prior experience may qualify
for a higher accrual rate, subject to review and approval. In addition to the rate of accrual, new
benefitted employees are provided with a beginning balance of 40 hours of vacation (prorated for
less than full time.)

Full-time employees earn 96 hours of sick leave per year and this leave may be accumulated without
limitation.

The City observes 11 designated holidays per year plus a floating personal holiday.
