Full Job Description
The Director of Philanthropy is a front line fundraising professional responsible for the management of a portfolio of 100 – 120 prospects comprised of alumni and friends associated with the College of Engineering and Sciences (COES) with capacity and inclination to make major gifts of $25K or more to Florida Tech. Prospect management includes discovery and qualification of new prospects, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors, with a strong focus on cultivating long term relationships and vision of college leaders to secure support for strategics priorities and initiatives.

The Director of Philanthropy for COES communicates and travels extensively to develop and strengthen donor relationships. Participates and leads in a broad range of events on and off campus having a strategic impact on the success of individual prospect relationships. The Director works collaboratively with other staff in the Advancement Division, the College of Engineering & Science, as well as university administrators, faculty, and staff.

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Managea portfolio of COES major gift prospects with a strong focus on cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding long term relationships with donors who have the capacity to make transformative gifts of $25K or more.
  • In conjunction with the Associate Vice President of Campaigns & VP of Philanthropy, establish prospect management goals for visits and solicitations.
  • Develop and keep updated contact reports, opportunities, and solicitation efforts. Ensure the accuracy and timely entry of all information and records into the CRM database (Raiser’s Edge & FPM).
  • Lead monthly meetings with College of Engineering and Sciences Dean & secure prospective donor meetings for university leaderships to deepen relations.
  • Participate inleadership meetings to better understand each unit'sneeds, challenges, and opportunities, as well as help coordinate central advancement efforts in all areas of the department.

Requirements Include:

  • Bachelor's in nonprofit management, communication, business or other related fields preferred.

  • 5 - 8 years of experience in nonprofits and/or front-line fundraising of major gifts or planned gifts ($25k+).

  • Preference for higher ed experience.
