Overview

The Director of Perioperative Services is responsible for the overall operational, clinical, financial, and strategic leadership of perioperative services. This leader will oversee quality outcomes, patient safety, staff engagement, physician partnerships, regulatory compliance, service line growth, and operational performance while fostering a culture of excellence throughout the surgical services division.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for perioperative services, ensuring delivery of safe, high-quality patient care.
  • Direct and evaluate clinical quality, patient safety initiatives, operational efficiency, and financial performance across assigned departments.
  • Partner closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nursing leadership, and executive leadership to achieve organizational goals and service line objectives.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve patient outcomes, physician satisfaction, employee engagement, and service excellence.
  • Monitor key performance indicators, including surgical volume, room utilization, turnover times, first-case on-time starts, patient satisfaction, and financial performance.
  • Lead budgeting, resource allocation, capital planning, and productivity management efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.
  • Recruit, mentor, develop, and retain high-performing leaders and staff.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and patient-centered culture across perioperative services.
  • Support growth initiatives, program development, and process improvement efforts aligned with organizational priorities.


Qualifications

Education
  • Master's degree required.

Licensure & Certifications
  • Current Florida Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • ACLS, BLS, and CNOR certifications preferred.

Experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive leadership experience as a Director of Surgical Services or equivalent perioperative leadership role.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex perioperative operations within an acute care hospital setting.
  • Experience partnering with physicians, executive leadership, and multidisciplinary teams to drive operational and clinical excellence.
