Full Job Description
Peregrine Energy Solutions is seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join the Market Analytics team who possesses expertise in evaluating the US's wholesale regulated and deregulated utility and power sectors and in formulating market entry and origination tactics for emerging grid service opportunities involving battery energy storage. In addition to helping shape the company's commercial & siting strategy, as a trusted expert in this domain, the individual will offer support and insights to the origination, development, engineering, and finance teams as needed.

This is a full-time position and can be fully remote.

Essential Responsibilities:

Commodity Structuring & Risk Analysis for Product Pricing:

  • Direct experience structuring bespoke C&I vPPA and associated structures specifically for C&I customers (direct commodity structuring and pricing and risk analysis for such product).
  • Quantitative market analysis and risk analysis focused on product pricing.
  • Programmatic data science experience; coding and data manipulation and curation from source all the way through to rendering final conclusions for commercial decisions.
  • Structured products creation experience (e.g. clean firm energy block products), across the spectrum of both financial and physical full load requirements.
  • Options product and risk product pricing.
  • Revenue at Risk, and Potential Future Exposure analysis - modeling and evaluating exposure from complex commodity structures/products.
  • Evaluating market wholesale and retail rules to help develop fit-for-purpose products and solutions to address identified customer needs.


  • Help support the buildout of the market analytics team, including recruiting and hiring highly qualified individuals.
  • Help build out other team capabilities in the mid-to-long term, such as production cost modeling, price, revenue, & risk assessment, steady state power flow modeling, and dispatch optimization software.
  • Support the origination, analysis, and execution of new business opportunities including highly structured transactions.


  • Ensure product pricing properly accounts for credit and commodity risk.
  • Lead the execution of structured solutions products pricing, and associated risk analysis to support collateral sizing.


Required Skills/Experience

  • 5+ years of market fundamentals analysis with a focus on energy storage and renewables structuring, structured energy products for both wholesale and industrial counterparties, and/or quantitative risk management and hedging experience in the energy industry.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with US wholesale power markets (ERCOT, SPP, MISO, WECC preferred)
  • Expert proficiency in Data Science, specifically Python or a similar programming languages.
  • Production cost modeling (PLEXOS, Aurora, DAYZER) is a plus.

Salary: The salary range for this position is $150,000 - $220,000 annually. Final compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, technical skills, education, certifications, and alignment with the role's responsibilities, as well as internal equity considerations.

Bonus: This position may be eligible to receive an annual cash incentive bonus capped at a % of your base salary and on your performance review.
