Director of Operations (West Region)Location: West Region, California

Pay Range: $190,000 - $235,000
What You'll DoLeadership & Team Development- Lead, coach, mentor, and develop Regional Managers.
- Establish performance expectations and accountability measures.
- Support succession planning, employee engagement, and workforce development initiatives.
- Partner with Human Resources on recruiting, onboarding, and employee development efforts.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Operations Management- Oversee day-to-day operations of affordable housing communities throughout the assigned region.
- Drive occupancy, resident satisfaction, operational efficiency, and service excellence.
- Identify operational challenges and implement effective solutions.
- Promote consistency in policies, procedures, and best practices across the portfolio.
- Utilize reporting and data analysis to improve operational performance.
Financial Oversight- Review financial statements, budgets, occupancy trends, and key performance indicators.
- Monitor operating results and support expense management initiatives.
- Partner with Regional Managers to improve asset performance and address operational challenges.
- Assist with budget preparation, financial forecasting, and strategic planning.
Compliance & Risk Management- Ensure compliance with HUD, LIHTC, Tax Credit, and other affordable housing regulations.
- Provide guidance during audits, inspections, management reviews, and compliance assessments.
- Monitor regulatory changes and implement operational adjustments as needed.
- Support risk management and asset preservation initiatives.
Strategic Leadership- Support acquisitions, property transitions, new developments, and growth initiatives.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to achieve organizational objectives.
- Provide operational analysis, recommendations, and performance updates.
- Represent RHF with governmental agencies, boards, ownership groups, and community stakeholders.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Real Estate, Property Management, or a related field.
- Minimum seven (7) years of progressively responsible property management experience, including oversight of multi-site housing portfolios.
- Minimum three (3) years of management experience leading managers or senior-level staff.
- Experience managing HUD, LIHTC, Tax Credit, and/or Conventional Housing communities.
- Strong knowledge of affordable housing regulations and property management operations.
- Strong financial, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and relationship-building abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and property management software systems such as Yardi.
- Valid California driver's license and insurable driving record.
- Ability to travel throughout the assigned region, including occasional overnight travel.
Preferred Qualifications- Certified Property Manager (CPM).
- Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP), COS, TCS, or similar affordable housing certification.
- Experience overseeing large, geographically dispersed portfolios.
- Experience with acquisitions, portfolio transitions, growth initiatives, and operational integration projects.
- Nonprofit housing experience.
