POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

Shields Point, LLC a subsidiary of Alutiiq, LLC has an opportunity for a Director of Operations. This position offers a U.S. remote opportunity. The Director of Operations leads a team of managers and supervisors in several geographic locations and evaluates project performance to include identifying risks, root causes of issues, shortfalls and developing corrective action plans.
  • Oversees and directs the execution of multiple government contracts at diverse government sites, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and contract deliverables
  • Proactively manages contract performance, meeting or exceeding all key performance indicators for cost control, on-time delivery, service quality, and workplace safety.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for government customers, ensuring exceptional stakeholder communication, timely issue resolution, and collaboration between site managers and executive leadership.
  • Designs, implements, and continuously improves operational strategies, staffing models, and resource allocation plans to maximize efficiency and support mission objectives.
  • Manages and analyzes multimillion-dollar budgets, preparing accurate forecasts, financial reports, and ensuring strict adherence to FAR/DFARS and other federal regulations.
  • Performs regular site visits and in-depth performance reviews across all locations, identifying opportunities to enhance operational excellence and compliance, willingness to travel to site locations when needed.
  • Leads, mentors, and evaluates project managers and site supervisors, fostering professional development and a culture of accountability, safety, and high performance.
  • Assists our company business development team by participating in new contract opportunities, recompetes, engagement in the proposal process and expanding government service offerings.
  • Enforces rigorous compliance with all federal, state, and corporate policies, including safety programs, risk management processes, and contractual obligations.
  • Prepares and presents detailed reports, executive briefings, and performance updates to government clients and corporate stakeholders, translating operational data into actionable insights.
  • Prepares Government Contract Data Requirements list plans consisting of but not limited to Transition, Quality Control , Safety, Security, Phase in and Phase out.
  • Demonstrates the ability to initiate contract start-ups consisting of analyzing requirements, hiring, market research, procurement, ordering materials, create phase in schedule and providing weekly updates to the customer.
  • Serves as the point of contact for Unions regarding Communication, Collective Bargaining Agreements, Grievances and Discipline.

Payrate: $140,000 to $150,000 Annually

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field. Candidates without a degree may be considered if they possess experience commensurate with the requirements of the position. [JM1.1]
  • Must have a minimum of 10 years [JM2.1]successfully managing government contracts.
  • U.S. citizenship (required by government contract) and ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance (Top Secret preferred).
  • Proven track record of managing and delivering on multimillion-dollar government service contracts in several geographic locations, including oversight of performance metrics, compliance, and customer relationships.
  • In-depth understanding of federal contracting processes, especially FAR/DFARS requirements, and ability to interpret and apply regulatory guidance.
  • Exceptional leadership, team-building, and mentoring skills, including experience leading dispersed, multidisciplinary, and multicultural teams.
  • Superior organizational, analytical, and financial management abilities, with experience in budget preparation, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Outstanding communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, build consensus, and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • High degree of initiative, accountability, and adaptability-able to drive projects from concept through execution with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to travel for site visits, performance reviews, and customer engagement.
  • Must have extensive experience with Union engagement, Collective Bargaining Agreements, handling discipline procedures.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft applications

Preferred Qualifications or Skills:
  • Professional certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP).
  • Prior military service or significant experience working directly with Department of Defense or federal government clients.
  • Demonstrated commitment to operational excellence, continuous improvement, and best-in-class safety and compliance practices.

The Alutiiq people, also called by their ancestral name Sugpiaq, as well as Pacific Eskimo or Pacific Yupik, are a southern coastal people of Alaska Natives. Their traditional homelands include Prince William Sound and outer Kenai Peninsula, the Kodiak Archipelago and the Alaska Peninsula. In the early 1800s there were more than 60 Alutiiq villages in the Kodiak archipelago, with an estimated population of 13,000 people. Today more than 4,000 Alutiiq people live in Alaska.
