Director of Office Administration Job Summary

The Director of Office Administration is responsible for direct supervision of all Office Administrators within the assigned region. The Director provides strategic leadership for legal support operations across a designated region, driving standardization, innovation, and operational excellence. This role reports directly to the Senior Director of Office Administration and partners closely with office leadership, Human Resources, and other Business Services teams to enhance service delivery, strengthen team performance, and ensure alignment with firm objectives.

This role will support the Central Region.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Excellence
  • Lead the development and implementation of standardized processes, innovative solutions, and continuous improvement efforts across legal secretary and office support operations to improve efficiency, consistency, and service delivery.
  • Lead and monitor adoption of firm policies.
  • Evaluate existing systems, tools, and processes to identify opportunities for optimization and increased functionality.
  • Develop, document, communicate, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices across the region.
  • Support strategic projects and firm initiatives, including stakeholder engagement and change management communications.
  • Promote awareness and consistency on firm initiatives, policies, and operational strategies across the region.


Team Leadership & Development
  • Establish and maintain a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing culture within the legal support organization.
  • Partner with Professional Development to create and implement training pathways and career development programs for legal support professionals.
  • Recruit, onboard, train, mentor, and develop Office Administrators and legal support staff to build regional bench strength and support succession planning.
  • Oversee performance management processes, coaching, employee engagement, and professional growth for the Office Administrator team.
  • Collaborate with recruiting to attract and retain top legal support talent.


Partnership & Stakeholder Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with HR Business Partners, Office Managing Principals, Regional Coordinators, and other key internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with firm priorities.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on legal support operations, workforce planning, and organizational effectiveness.


Financial & Compliance Oversight
  • Drive financial accountability within the region, including oversight of overtime management, and office budgets.
  • Monitor expense management and reporting in partnership with financial analysts to ensure accuracy and fiscal responsibility.
  • Ensure compliance with firm policies and procedures across all offices within the region.


Qualifications/Skills Required
  • 8+ years experience in legal operations, professional services, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years proven leadership experience in office administration, legal operations, professional services, or a related field
  • Strong supervisory and relationship management skills
  • Well-developed and professional interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel to offices if required.
  • Strong project management, process improvement, and change management capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams across multiple locations.
  • Excellent financial expertise, communication skills, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Experience implementing technology solutions and driving organizational adoption.
  • Ability to balance strategic priorities with operational execution in a fast-paced environment.

Educational Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree required, advanced degree preferred

For Illinois and Virginia, the expected salary range for this position is between $194,000 and $226,250. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law. This position is also eligible for annual bonuses.
