Full Job Description
The Director of Nursing Services (DNS) is responsible for the overall organizational direction and management of the nursing services in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility. The DNS will be directed by the CEO and the Medical Director to ensure the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times for our 90 residents.

Essential Functions:
  1. Develops and promotes the philosophy, objectives, and standards of nursing services.
  2. Develops, reviews, and as necessary revises nursing policies and procedures
  3. Develops and promotes organizational structure for nursing services.
  4. Identifies nursing services needs and develops plans according to needs
  5. Determines and advocates for staffing levels for the nursing/direct care that promote high quality nursing services
  6. Assures adequate nursing/direct care staff is provided to meet resident care needs.
  7. Recruits and hires appropriate nursing/direct care personnel.
  8. Assures competency of nursing/direct care employees.
  9. Oversees operations of the nursing services
  10. Plans, negotiates, monitors, and controls the budget for nursing services
  11. Communicates and collaborates with other departments.
  12. Assures the nursing/direct care staff comply with the facility's policies and procedures.
  13. Participates in administrative planning, monitoring, and evaluation efforts for the entire facility.
  14. Assures the facility's compliance with regulatory requirements
  15. Assists and participates in surveys conducted by regulatory and accrediting agencies.
  16. Participates in the QAPI program
  17. Makes written and oral reports to the administrator and governing body regarding operation, plans, and needs of the facility.
  18. Serves and participates on committees affecting the overall operation of the facility
  19. Adheres to professional codes of ethics.
