Director of Nursing - Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home

Trellis Supportive Care is seeking an experienced, compassionate nursing leader to direct clinical operations at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home (KBR), accountable for the quality, safety, and compassion of care delivered to patients and families at the Inpatient Unit (IPU). This Leader will drive operational strategy in partnership with senior leadership, medical staff, and external organizations and serve as the primary point of accountability, while acting as the representative of the agency's mission and the interests of patients and families at KBR.

Essential Functions:

Assumes responsibility for clinical operations of KBR

  • Ensures high-quality clinical care and professional standards are maintained across all disciplines represented within KBR.
  • Establishes, oversees, and evaluates bed turnover processes to support efficient utilization and maximize census.
  • Assesses staffing needs and ensures appropriate clinical staffing levels based on patient census and operational demands.
  • Leads and supports quality management initiatives by promoting clinical staff participation and ensuring appropriate representation in performance improvement activities.
  • Develops and presents ongoing strategies to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of clinical services provided at KBR.
  • Recommends, develops, and implements approved clinical policies, procedures, and practice standards to support quality patient care and regulatory compliance.
  • Builds and maintains strong professional relationships with healthcare providers, patients and families, referral partners, and other individuals or organizations that influence or support the delivery of KBR and Trellis Supportive Care services.


Promotes access to KBR for patients

  • Identifies and monitors potential barriers that could delay or prevent timely patient transfers.
  • Ensures timely and accurate communication regarding bed availability with hospice clinical leadership.
  • Consistently represents KBR and Trellis Supportive Care in all interactions with internal and external customers, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and respect.


Provides direction for the KBR team including RNs, LPNs, Nursing Assistants and Dietary

  • Participate in the hiring of clinical staff.
  • Ensures appropriate orientation, evaluation, coaching and development of staff.
  • Establishes clear expectations, supports staff development, and promotes effective collaboration among team members to ensure consistent patient-centered care.


Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements for the IPU

  • Ensures implementation of and compliance with all clinical policies and procedures, licensing and certification rules, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Adheres to all policies, procedures and regulations regarding patient care, conduct, safety, fire, security, and risk management.


Assumes fiscal responsibility for KBR operations

  • Collaborates with Accounting and Senior Management Team to ensure that billing for clinical services is accurate and timely.
  • Oversees operations at KBR, ensuring resources, staffing, and services are effectively aligned with patient needs and organizational priorities.
  • Develops, monitors, and adjusts the KBR clinical budget to support responsible resource management, operational effectiveness, and quality patient care.
