Director of Nursing (DON)

Highland Healthcare Center | Highland, IL

As the Director of Nursing, you will oversee all nursing operations while ensuring the highest standards of clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, and resident-centered care. You'll mentor and support an exceptional nursing team while partnering with physicians, families, and interdisciplinary staff to create outstanding outcomes for our residents.
Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Nursing Department.
  • Ensure residents receive compassionate, high-quality, person-centered care.
  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing policies, procedures, and clinical standards.
  • Recruit, mentor, educate, and retain a strong nursing team.
  • Participate in care planning, quality assurance, infection prevention, and risk management initiatives.
  • Conduct regular clinical rounds and provide coaching and support to nursing staff.
  • Collaborate with physicians, residents, families, and department leaders to promote exceptional clinical outcomes.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Support facility goals through effective leadership and sound clinical decision-making.
Qualifications
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Illinois.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Previous nursing leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of long-term care regulations and clinical best practices.
  • A passion for serving seniors and building strong, engaged teams.
