Full Job Description
The Director of Nursing (DON) oversees clinical operations, ensuring exceptional patient care, nursing practice, and staff development. This role drives clinical excellence through leadership, strategic planning, and continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with healthcare standards and regulations. The DON fosters a culture of collaboration, service excellence, and fiscal responsibility, working closely with the Executive Director and leadership team to achieve operational success and superior patient/resident experience.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current RN License by State Board of Nursing required with demonstrated managerial and administrative ability.
  • Experience in the long-term care profession or working with geriatric population preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of clinical experience with at least two years supervisory experience.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Operations Management:

  • Oversee the nursing department, ensuring compliance with policies, regulations, and best practices.
  • Directs staff management, including hiring, training, scheduling, and professional development.
  • Assumes responsibility for the center in the Executive Director's absence.

  1. Quality Care and Clinical Excellence:

  • Develops and implements care plans that promote residents' highest level of functioning.
  • Conducts regular rounds, ensures accurate medical record documentation, and leads the care planning committee.
  • Monitors and improve resident outcomes through Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives.

  1. Resident, Family, and Community Relations:

  • Maintains open communication with residents, families, healthcare providers, and staff.
  • Handles concerns and complaints professionally, providing education and resolution.
  • Ensures proper infection control practices and adherence to safety standards.
