Director of Nursing (DON) provides clinical leadership and oversight for resident care services at
Windsor Manor Grinnell, a 40-unit senior living community offering
20 Assisted Living and 20 Memory Care residences.
This role is ideal for an experienced
Registered Nurse with senior living experience who enjoys leading a care team while remaining closely connected to residents, families, and the day-to-day operations of the community.
The DON is responsible for ensuring residents receive individualized, high-quality care in accordance with state regulations, company standards, and each resident's unique needs. This position oversees clinical services, care planning, staffing, associate performance, family communication, and regulatory compliance while supporting a positive experience for residents and associates.
At Windsor Manor Grinnell, residents are supported in maintaining their independence while receiving care that adjusts as their needs change. The DON plays an important role in creating that consistency and ensuring residents and families feel confident in the care and support provided.
Key Responsibilities- Provide clinical leadership and oversight for Assisted Living and Memory Care resident services.
- Develop and maintain individualized service plans based on each resident's needs, abilities, and activities of daily living (ADLs), updating plans as required.
- Assess residents on an ongoing basis and identify changes in condition or care needs to support their health, safety, and overall well-being.
- Ensure the care team understands and follows each resident's current service plan and care requirements.
- Oversee department staffing and scheduling to maintain appropriate coverage and continuity of care.
- Lead, support, and provide direction to nursing and resident care associates while promoting accountability and strong teamwork.
- Partner closely with community leadership and Memory Care leadership to coordinate services and maintain consistent standards of care.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, physicians, and other healthcare providers regarding changes in condition, concerns, and care planning.
- Maintain compliance with applicable state regulations, company policies, documentation requirements, and clinical standards with a focus on survey readiness and quality outcomes.
- Support resident and family satisfaction while contributing to a positive, welcoming community environment.

Qualifications- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing is required.
- Previous senior living experience is required, preferably within Assisted Living and/or Memory Care.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in senior living, long-term care, or another geriatric care setting.
- Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory or nursing leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of resident assessments, service planning, documentation, and regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop care teams while maintaining strong relationships with residents and families.
- Experience with electronic resident documentation systems is preferred.
- Must successfully complete required criminal background screening and comply with the Company's Drug-Free Workplace policy.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) in accordance with Company Fleet Safety standards. Driving eligibility and insurability must be maintained throughout employment.
