We are seeking a
Director of Nursing in
Philadelphia (supporting Southeast), PA. The Director of Nursing leads a team including RNs and LPNs for an assigned region to care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This person will support teams with day-to-day operations and challenges to ensure the medical and healthcare needs of the individuals we support are met.
Starting rate is $90,000/per year
Responsibilities - Lead and train teams to support programmatic initiatives, goals, and the unique needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Manage team performance through effective communication, training, performance management, staff meetings, employee recognition, and internal control reviews
- Provide treatment and health care procedures ordered by a physician and required by the standards of professional practice or law
- Train staff on the healthcare needs, medical conditions, and plan of care for assigned individuals
- Develop and conduct comprehensive training programs
- Develop and update nursing care plans and health care plans with an interdisciplinary team to include any concerns, observations, and behavioral developments
- Ensure nursing protocols comply with state and board of nursing regulations and guidelines
- Advise supervisor of all concerns and issues related to the provision of nursing services
- Ensure nurse assessments and program documentation are completed accurately and timely
- Monitor health and medical conditions of individuals and refer for medical services as needed
- Assess systemic risk management issues with the administration of medications
- Review all medication errors, analyze each error, and report per state regulations
- Build a support network for individuals by developing and maintaining relationships with community members, businesses, and families
- Follow strict infection control procedures regarding blood borne pathogens
- Available after hours by phone for on call emergency telephone triage
Minimum Requirements - Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field
- Valid RN license allowing you to practice in assigned state
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
- Minimum two years of experience as a registered nurse
- Complete all state and agency required training
- Remain abreast of all board of nursing regulations and industry standards
- Experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities
- Knowledge of state regulatory agency operations and standards relevant to supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities
- Team-oriented with demonstrated leadership experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Experience working with electronic health record systems; Therap preferred
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of checks of criminal background, central registry, child abuse registry, and drug testing
