Position SummaryThe Director of Nursing (Wellness Director) is responsible for overseeing all clinical services within the Assisted Living community. This role provides leadership to the nursing team, ensures residents receive high-quality, individualized care, and maintains compliance with all applicable state regulations.
Working closely with residents, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members, the Director of Nursing helps create an environment where residents can thrive while preserving their independence, dignity, and quality of life.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Leadership- Lead, mentor, and support the Assisted Living nursing team through hiring, onboarding, coaching, scheduling, and performance management.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable work environment focused on exceptional resident care.
- Provide clinical oversight and guidance to licensed nurses and caregivers.
- Serve as a clinical resource for staff, residents, and families.
Resident Care- Complete resident assessments and develop individualized service plans.
- Monitor resident health status and coordinate care with physicians, pharmacies, therapists, hospice providers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Oversee medication management and clinical documentation.
- Monitor infection prevention, skin integrity, falls prevention, and other quality initiatives.
- Ensure timely response to changes in resident condition and coordinate appropriate interventions.
- Promote residents' independence while ensuring their safety and well-being.
Regulatory Compliance & Quality- Ensure compliance with all state licensing requirements and community policies.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation.
- Participate in surveys, audits, and regulatory inspections.
- Implement quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
- Monitor clinical outcomes and identify opportunities to enhance resident care and satisfaction.
Resident & Family Engagement- Build trusting relationships with residents and their families.
- Communicate resident health updates and changes in condition as appropriate.
- Address resident and family concerns with professionalism, empathy, and urgency.
- Collaborate with Life Enrichment, Dining Services, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and other departments to provide a seamless resident experience.
Qualifications- Current Michigan RN or LPN license in good standing.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Minimum of three years of nursing leadership experience, preferably in Assisted Living, Senior Living, Long-Term Care, or Skilled Nursing.
- Previous experience as a Director of Nursing, Wellness Director, Resident Care Director, or similar clinical leadership role preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Assisted Living regulations and best practices.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Experience with PointClickCare (PCC) or other electronic health record systems preferred.
