General Description

New Destiny is seeking to hire a full-time Director of Mental Health Services to oversee the Mental Health Department and Clinical Social Workers who provide regular in-person and virtual mental health related services throughout the organization. The Director of Mental Health Services is responsible for ensuring that therapeutic and clinical services and referrals are reflective of New Destiny Housing's mission which emphasizes trauma informed and strength-based approaches in the delivery of short-term individual counseling, crisis intervention, and connection to community-based services. This is a full-time position that requires the ability to travel throughout multiple sites. The Director of Mental Health oversees three Clinical Social Workers as well as interns. The Director of Mental Health will report directly to the Vice President of Supportive Housing.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical Oversight
    • Offer guidance and oversight of crisis intervention planning from a person-centered lens and build out evidence-based interventions specific to adults and families.
    • Conduct regular individual and group supervision sessions to support professional development and adherence to best practice standards for complex family needs.
    • Establish a relationship with local community partners and city/state agencies addressing the needs clients with mental health needs.
    • Conduct comprehensive assessments, short-term individual counseling, and crisis intervention, on caseload of high-needs clients.
    • Oversee clinical work with adults, teens, and children. Ensuring culturally sensitive and appropriate services are provided to all people served.


  • Administrative Tasks
    • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to support an integrated and trauma-informed approach to mental health care.
    • Foster diversity and cultural sensitivity in services, engage in community outreach to better serve diverse client needs.
    • Manages grant budgets and monthly spending of Clinical Social Workers. Ensures reporting to grant funders is well documented and effective.
    • Maintain a resource network inclusive of formal and informal partnerships and service agreements.
    • Oversee the internal training curricula on mental health topics relevant to the populations served by New Destiny Housing. Support on occasional external trainings.
    • Oversee the day-to-day work of integrated services within New Destiny Housing programs, ensuring efficient workflows, appropriate staffing levels, and adherence to quality standards.


Requirements

  • A Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) New York State active license is required.
  • SIFI Certification is required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of direct supervisory experience required.
  • Experience working with survivors of domestic violence required, experience working with children and teens preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience assisting individuals navigating and accessing mental health services, including hospitalization, inpatient services, and accessible long-term mental health counseling.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance the services the organization provides.
  • Highly organized, flexible, and resourceful.
  • Strong written and oral community skills, computer literacy, and sound judgment.
  • Bilingual strongly preferred.
