Position: Director of Loss Prevention

Department: Loss Prevention

Purpose: To direct all Loss Prevention functions in the hotel ensuring a safe and secure accuracy and timely submission.

Reports to: Director of Engineering

Essential Functions:

  • Ensures all Loss Prevention standards are properly followed.
  • Reviews all reports completed by Loss Prevention officers to ensure accuracy and timely submission.
  • Reports all observed hotel property deficiencies and safety hazards.
  • Ensures thorough and complete investigation for all incidents incurred by guests and associates (i.e. losses, thefts, accidents, and acts of violence).
  • Maintains guest room surveillance procedures.
  • Maintains an effective key control program.
  • Ensures that shift personnel are properly assigned at all times.
  • Responsible for payroll, scheduling and other administrative duties.
  • Attends all hotel meetings such as evening stand up, Ops, Safety Committee, Rooms Division, and bi-weekly staff meeting.
  • Brief on- coming shift officer and the MOD on all Loss Prevention issues prior to leaving property.
  • Maintain high visibility in the lobby and other public areas, especially during busy periods.
  • Function as MOD on weekends.
  • Respond to all fire and medical emergencies.
  • Develop department policies and procedures.
  • Excellent computer skills.


Tools and Equipment:

  • Telephone, pen/pencil, photo-copying machine, computer and printer, file folders, filing cabinet, and facsimile machine
  • Lift jack dolly, hand truck, camera, first aid equipment


Working Environment:

  • Interior of hotel, in all areas with exposure to extreme temperatures.
  • Exterior of hotel with exposure to weather conditions.
  • Exposure to various hazardous chemicals.
