Position Summary

The Director of Logistics owns the end-to-end dynamic routing, dispatch, and delivery execution processes for assigned territories, ensuring customer deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and within established service commitments. This role coordinates across Field Operations, Customer Care,HSSE and Commercial to maintain route discipline, improve delivery execution, resolve service exceptions, and drive standardized performance across assigned territories.

Key Areas of Ownership

  • End-to-end dynamic routing and delivery execution processes
  • Process development and stakeholder training on driver communication, route adherence, and accountability
  • Missed delivery management and recovery processes including coordination with Customer Care team
  • Tank monitoring system administration, processes and controls
  • Delivery performance management, process control, standardization, and continuous improvement


Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Set the strategic direction and operating cadence for delivery planning, route optimization, and service execution across assigned territories, ensuring alignment with safety, customer service, cost, and productivity objectives.
  • Establish governance, performance standards, and escalation protocols for daily delivery execution, including real-time decision-making related to customer priority, weather, equipment availability, staffing, inventory constraints, and operational risk.
  • Lead cross-functional coordination with Router/Dispatchers, Field Operations, Customer Care, Commercial, HSSE, and leadership teams to resolve delivery exceptions, address systemic issues, and protect customer commitments.
  • Own delivery performance management by reviewing route adherence, missed deliveries, productivity, fleet utilization, delivery exceptions, and customer-impact trends; sponsor corrective action plans and ensure sustained follow-through.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve standardized routing, dispatch, missed delivery, customer communication, tank monitoring, and delivery execution processes, tools, training materials, and job aids.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and accountability for assigned logistics personnel and matrix partners, building organizational capability, reinforcing process discipline, and promoting a culture of safety, customer ownership, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee daily tactical logistics execution, including route review, dispatch coordination, missed delivery triage, tank monitor exception follow-up, urgent customer delivery needs, weather or supply-related service adjustments, driver and equipment availability constraints, and same-day escalation management to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery outcomes.

Safety Responsibilities

The Director of Logistics is responsible for ensuring routing and delivery activities are conducted in accordance with company safety policies, DOT regulations, FMCSA requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. The position reinforces safe driving practices, regulatory compliance, and operational risk management, and partners with Safety and Operations leadership to investigate and address safety-related concerns.

Work Environment

This position operates in both office and field environments and requires frequent interaction with drivers, dispatch personnel, customer care employees, field leadership, and customers. Occasional travel to service centers and operational locations is required.
