Full Job Description
We are seeking a Director of Internal Consulting to lead strategic initiatives for Aon, starting with the design and execution of a multi-year strategic Operating Model Transformation. Reporting to the leadership team of Aon Business Solutions (ABS), this role is responsible for designing, orchestrating, and scaling the transformation of Aon's enterprise operating model to enhance how we deliver value to clients, colleagues, and carriers. This role will engage with senior leaders across Solution Lines, Regions, and Functions, as well as lead a cross-functional team of internal consultants, project managers, and subject matter experts and to deliver measurable performance outcomes.

This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work both virtually and from one of our US offices.

What the day will look like

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Vision
  • Partner with ABS leadership as well as business leaders, key collaborators, and cross-functional partners to advance the vision, objectives, and scope for operating model transformation
  • Translate strategic priorities into a clear transformation roadmap with defined business outcomes, key performance indicators, and value realization targets
  • Apply structured consulting methodologies (e.g., problem framing, analysis based on careful assumptions, benchmarking, argument development) to inform recommendations
  • Develop and validate arguments for operating model changes, including financial, operational, and qualitative benefits

Operating Model Design & Alignment
  • Lead the end-to-end design of the target operating model across Aon's Solution Lines, Business Units and Functions
  • Translate enterprise strategy into detailed Operating Model design components, including capabilities, organizational structure, roles and responsibilities, governance models, and cross functional interaction patterns
  • Be responsible for phased implementation, including pilots, scaling strategies, and stabilization, ensuring alignment with regional and solution line needs
  • Build and maintain operating model blueprints, ensuring all components (capability models, interaction models, project management defined roles and responsibilities, team structures, decision rights, critical metrics) integrate across the enterprise

Collaborator Engagement & Program Leadership
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior executives, providing insight into opportunities, tradeoffs, and risks related to the operating model; ensure consensus and engagement in strategy and roadmap
  • Shape and deliver a compelling change narrative that articulates the "why," "what," and "how" of the transformation for different audiences
  • Work closely with executive sponsors and the PMO to establish and maintain robust governance, decision-making, and critical issue mechanisms
  • Partner with Change & Communications teams to define implications of design changes, highlight required behavior shifts, and identify points of resistance or adoption needs

  • Promote a culture of collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement
