Under broad guidance, the Director of Interceptor Operations is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction for the Interceptor Operations Department. This includes overseeing all interceptor system operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, managing capital improvement projects, and optimizing the performance of the interceptor systems. The Director of Interceptor Operations also serves as a liaison between staff, management, localities, and contractors, while ensuring that all interceptor facilities and equipment are well-maintained and operational.

Job Requirements
Education

Required
• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental engineering or related field

Desired
• Master's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering, Business Administration or related field.

Experience

Required
• Ten years of experience in the maintenance and operation of wastewater utilities.
• Ten years of management experience, with a focus on training and mentoring staff.
• Experience managing budgets, teams, and large-scale projects within a utility or similar environment.

Desired
• Experience working with large municipal wastewater utilities, heavy equipment contractors, and engineering consultants.
• Experience leading large workforces, managing multiple teams, and dealing with regulatory agencies.
• Experience with project management, system reliability programs, and coordination with contractors and local municipalities.

Licenses and Certifications Requirements
• Licensed Professional Engineer in Virginia
• Driver's license from state of residence
