About the Role
The Director of Institutional Data Analytics provides strategic leadership, management, and technical oversight for institutional reporting and analytics serving the University of South Carolina and its extended campuses. This role leads the Analytics and Data Governance team in the Division of IT, partnering with university leadership and governance groups to deliver reliable, actionable data and enterprise reporting solutions. The director also drives innovation in analytics, supports data governance and security, and promotes data quality, consistency, and integrity across reporting environments.

Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in a job related field and at least 8 years of job related experience, including some prior management experience.


Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Higher Education Administration, Public Administration, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications, such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Certified Analytics Professional (CAP), Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Seven (7) or more years of progressively responsible experience in institutional research, business intelligence, analytics, data management, or related fields.
  • Three (3) or more years of supervisory or managerial experience leading technical or analytical teams.
  • Experience supporting decision-making within higher education, preferably within a multi-campus university system.
  • Experience developing enterprise reporting solutions, dashboards, and data visualizations in enterprise tools (e.g., Cognos, Tableau, PowerBI).
  • Experience working with data warehouses, enterprise data systems (e.g., HR, Financial, Student Information, Learning Management), and large-scale institutional datasets.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional projects and stakeholder engagement initiatives.
  • Experience with accreditation reporting, state and federal reporting requirements, and higher education performance metrics.
