Description
Position SummaryThe Director of Golf is the senior leader of Golf Operations and reports directly to the General Manager. This role is responsible for the strategic leadership and day-to-day operation of all golf services, golf retail, practice facilities, tournaments, instruction, staffing, financial performance, and guest experience while supporting The Gate's mission of making golf accessible to all.
Requirements
Pre-Opening Leadership Responsibilities- Lead all golf operations planning and opening activities
- Develop SOPs, operating policies, budgets, staffing plans, and merchandising strategy
- Select and implement POS, tee-sheet, inventory, and golf management systems
- Hire, train, and onboard the Golf Operations team
- Coordinate vendors, licensing, and operational readiness
Operational Leadership- Direct golf shop, outside services, cart operations, practice facilities, putting course, and instructional programming
- Deliver exceptional guest experiences and maintain high operational standards
- Plan and execute tournaments, leagues, outings, junior golf, clinics, and community events
- Partner with the Golf Course Superintendent and Food & Beverage leadership to ensure a seamless guest experience
- Recruit, coach, mentor, evaluate, and retain a high-performing team
Financial & Business Leadership- Develop and administer operating and capital budgets
- Monitor KPIs, labor, payroll, retail performance, pace of play, and revenue.
- Drive rounds, instruction, retail, and Trackman utilization through innovative programming
Qualifications- 7-10 years of progressive golf operations leadership
- PGA member in good standing
- Public, municipal, daily-fee, or community golf leadership strongly preferred
- Experience opening a new golf facility preferred
- Strong financial, technology, leadership, and communication skills
