Full Job Description

WHAT WE’RE SEEKING

This is a role for a hands-on leader who wants ownership of a function, not just oversight of one: someone who can take a clear technical position, modernize a reporting process, and continue to develop an already strong team. Just as important: someone who wants our financials to give the CFO and business leaders real insight into what’s driving performance, so they can make faster, better decisions.

THE ROLE

This role owns the accuracy and integrity of Topgolf’s financial reporting, serves as the company’s primary technical accounting resource, and helps modernize the systems and processes behind our numbers. It reports directly to the CFO and works closely with the Controller, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Legal, IT, Internal Audit, external auditors, and our private equity sponsor.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Financial Reporting & Consolidation

  • Own preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements under U.S. GAAP, including consolidation across legal entities, business units, and international operations.
  • Prepare and review financial statements and footnotes in connection with the annual external audits of Topgolf entities.
  • Own the general ledger, chart of accounts, and cost/profit center structure, ensuring they are designed and maintained to support accurate, consistent, and scalable financial reporting across the organization.
  • Prepare reporting packages for the CFO, Board, PE sponsor, lenders, and other stakeholders; ensure alignment with FP&A on forecasts, KPIs, and management reporting; respond to ad hoc reporting requests as they arise.
  • Deliver financial reporting that goes beyond GAAP compliance by explaining the business drivers behind the numbers so the CFO and operating leaders have what they need to make informed decisions.
  • Maintain accounting policy and financial statement presentation standards; support debt covenant compliance and lender reporting requirements.

Technical Accounting & Advisory

  • Serve as Topgolf’s primary resource on complex and emerging accounting matters, including revenue recognition, leases, business combinations, intangibles impairment, stock-based compensation, debt and equity transactions, and other non-routine areas.
  • Partner with the senior manager of technical accounting to research and document conclusions in clear, well-supported technical memos; advise the business on accounting implications.
  • Lead the assessment and implementation of new accounting standards.

Financial Systems & Process Transformation

  • Partner with IT, Accounting, and external consultants to modernize financial systems and data integration across source systems, the general ledger, consolidation tools, and management reporting (SAP and OneStream experience a plus).
  • Drive automation and standardization across close, consolidation, and reporting.
  • Define business requirements and lead or support systems implementations, upgrades, and testing.

Audit, Controls & Governance

  • Lead the financial reporting and technical accounting components of the annual external audits; own timely resolution of audit questions.
  • Strengthen internal controls over financial reporting; partner with Internal Controls to close control gaps and improve documentation.
  • Support lender, sponsor, and other third-party financial diligence requests.

Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and continue to develop an already strong financial reporting and technical accounting team.
  • Translate complex accounting and systems issues into clear, actionable guidance for non-accounting stakeholders.
  • Operate as a trusted adviser to the CFO and senior leadership on reporting, technical accounting, and systems matters.

CORE COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESS

  • Accurate, timely, well-supported financial reporting and technical accounting conclusions, month after month.
  • Financial reporting that gives the CFO and business leaders real insight into performance drivers and supports better, faster decisions.
  • A measurably faster, more automated close, consolidation, and reporting process.
  • Clean, low-friction external audits.
  • Modernized, integrated financial systems with less manual workaround.
  • A stronger, more capable financial reporting and technical accounting team.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; active CPA license required.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience, with a strong public accounting foundation (Big Four or national firm strongly preferred).
  • Deep U.S. GAAP and technical accounting research experience in a large, complex, multi-entity organization.
  • Private-equity-backed experience; multi-location, hospitality, entertainment, restaurant, or retail background is a plus.
  • Track record managing external audits directly with senior audit partners and technical specialists.
  • Experience partnering on financial systems implementations and process improvement; SAP and OneStream experience is a plus.
  • Success using AI to automate processes and incorporate it into finance workflows is a strong plus.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop teams, and to explain complex accounting and systems matters to nontechnical, senior audiences.
  • Strong executive presence and comfort working directly with the CFO, PE sponsor, lenders, and auditors.

Sounds like a fit? We can’t wait to meet you!
