Full Job Description
Impact
As a Director of Finance, Reporting & Insights, you will be responsible for leading the connection between financial strategy and technical execution. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Enterprise Financial Planning and Insights, you will serve as the catalyst to drive AI enablement across the Finance organization and lead the evolution of Shipt's reporting ecosystem. You will transform complex data into clear, actionable business intelligence, managing a high-performing team responsible for the integrity and accessibility of our financial data to ensure our analytical tools drive clarity at both the enterprise and localized levels.

While no two days are the same, you will operationalize a strategic cross-Finance partnership model and serve as the primary liaison between Finance and technical teams (such as Engineering and Data Science) to ensure business logic is accurately represented in upstream data sources. You will streamline and evolve financial reporting frameworks to highlight critical business drivers, consult with cross-functional partners to refine analytical requests, and establish reporting frameworks for metro-level and customer-level performance. Additionally, you will drive the roadmap for data accessibility and tech stack modernization-including the inception of Generative AI tools-while leading and developing the Financial Reporting and Insights team to deliver on a complex reporting roadmap.

What You'll Need to Be Successful

  • You have 10 years of experience in Finance, Data Strategy, or Business Intelligence, demonstrating a balance of financial acumen and technical proficiency.
  • You have an undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative field (an MBA is preferred).
  • You have the ability to act as a strategic translator, taking nuanced business and financial requests and simplifying them into actionable requirements for a technical team.
  • You have a high degree of curiosity, especially in AI, and business savvy, with a track record of asking the right questions to challenge business logic and ensure reporting reflects the true drivers of the P&L.
  • You have technical self-sufficiency with the ability to work directly in SQL, Excel, and BI platforms to coach the team's work, validate results against a source of truth, and build financial models.
  • You have exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to summarize complex data into simple, compelling narratives for stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • You have a proven track record of cross-functional collaboration, effectively bridging the gap and building relationships between technical teams and business-focused partners.
  • You have a strong leadership presence with experience managing people and helping a team prioritize high-volume requests in a fast-paced environment.
