Job Description Summary

Department Summary

Provides leadership in all aspects of financial planning for multiple units. Works closely with various units and high-level leadership to develop dynamic budgets and forecasts to support objectives and revenue/expense strategies. Serves as lead in strategic operational financial planning, management reporting, and ensures proper controls are in place.

Position Profile

Responsible for the preparation of budgetary reports, special projects, and analyses as needed. Reviews expenditures to ensure conformance with budgetary provisions, compile data, and prepare reports. Provides strategic financial planning, ensuring the efficient allocation of resources.

Level Summary

Leads significant programs or functions with a high level of strategic importance. Works as a technical leader to address highly challenging processes with broad and significant implications for the University. Collaborates closely with senior management to deliver impactful business results and long-term strategies.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Provides subject matter expertise to internal and external stakeholders. May have a limited number of direct reports.

Fiscal Responsibilities

May manage budget in work area or multiple project budgets.

Problem Solving

Resolves highly complex problems, often with no clear precedent.

Independence of Action

Self-directed with minimal supervision and high decision-making autonomy.

Communication and Collaboration

Leads major collaborations and represents the University at higher levels.

Physical Requirements

This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of desktop computers. Occasionally, the job may require travel to attend meetings and programs.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 10 or more years of related professional experience, or equivalent education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with academic units within higher education preferred.

Pay Rate

This position is mapped to Pay Grade CA&P 21, with a target hiring range of $95,101 to $128,385. The exact base salary for the selected candidate will be negotiable, commensurate with education and experience, and competitive in the field within the context of similarly situated positions at public universities nationally.
