Summary: The Director of Finance serves as a key member of the Leadership Team responsible for the overall financial management, strategic planning, and fiscal integrity of the hotel. This position provides leadership in all aspects of finance, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, compliance, procurement oversight, and business analytics.
As a business partner of and reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Finance drives profitability, enhances operational efficiency, and ensures alignment with corporate financial objectives while maintaining the unique service culture and guest experience standards of a globally recognized brand.
Key Responsibilities Financial Strategy, Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis- Develop annual operating budgets, both short and long-range financial forecasts.
- Monitor labor productivity, profitability, cost controls, departmental expenses, and flow-through performance.
- Analyze and identify opportunities to improve hotel KPIs including: GOP, EBITDA, Labor cost, divisional profitability
- Serve as primary financial contact for ownership representatives.
- Prepare materials for ownership and asset management reviews.
Financial Reporting & Internal Controls- Direct all accounting functions, including: General ledger, Accounts payable, Accounts receivable, Cash management, Payroll oversight, Fixed assets, Month-end close processes.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and management reports.
- Prepare monthly owner reports and executive summaries.
- Maintain compliance with USALI, US GAAP and corporate accounting policies.
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies, tax regulations, and local laws.
- Manage business licenses, permits, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Oversee financial governance practices including coordinating internal and external audits.
- Manage hotel cash flow, banking relationships, and liquidity requirements.
- Maintain and review capital expenditures.
Leadership & Team Development- Key leadership competencies should includestrategic thinking, financial acumen, operational understanding, team development, problem solving, attention to detail, relationship management, communication skills, ability to thrive in a small hotel environment.
- Foster a culture of accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement in developing finance team members.
- Build cross-functional partnerships including training on financial literacy throughout the hotel.

The salary range for this position is $110,000 - $160,000 . This is the range for this position that Andaz San Diego reasonably expects to pay. Decisions regarding individual salaries will be based on a number of factors, such as experience and education.
Qualifications: Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.
- CPA, CMA, MBA, or similar professional designation preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience.
- 3+ years in a senior financial leadership role within hospitality.
- Experience working within a global hotel management company strongly preferred.
- Previous ownership reporting experience highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of hotel accounting systems and reporting platforms. Including, but not limited to: Oracle, BirchStreet, Opera PMS, Payroll systems, Microsoft Excel. Advanced financial modeling and use of AI preferred.
