Summary
The Durand Area School District is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our leadership team as the Director of Finance. This full-time position is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the district, ensuring fiscal responsibility, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the district's educational goals. Responsibilities
- Develop and manage the district's annual budget, ensuring alignment with educational priorities and compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance, providing regular reports to the school board and administration on budget status, forecasts, and financial trends.
- Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, payroll, purchasing, and grants management.
- Ensure compliance with all financial policies, procedures, and regulations, including state and federal laws related to school finance.
- Collaborate with school administrators and department heads to identify funding needs and allocate resources effectively.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, ensuring timely completion of audits and implementation of recommendations.
- Provide financial training and support to district staff to enhance financial literacy and accountability.
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures that promote efficiency and effectiveness in financial operations.
- Lead financial planning initiatives, including long-term financial forecasting and capital improvement planning.
- Participate in strategic planning efforts to align financial resources with the district's vision and goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; a Master's degree or CPA designation is preferred.
- Financial management, preferably in an educational or non-profit setting.
- Strong knowledge of school finance, budgeting, and accounting principles.
- Proven experience with financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting.
