Based in Surrey, our client is an established non-profit organization that has been operating for over two decades. They are currently looking to add an experienced
Director of Finance to their team. The ideal candidate will be a designated CPA with 7+ years of relevant experience.
About the Position Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Finance will be responsible for managing a team of four accounting professionals and providing leadership and oversight of the organization's financial operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, payroll, investments, and internal financial controls.
- Monitor cash balances to maintain adequate operating liquidity and track corporate credit card limits and available balances.
- Oversee payments, confirm required approvals are in place, and review payment requests for proper coding, authorization, and budget compliance.
- Prepare EFTs and wire transfers and complete monthly bank and investment reconciliations.
- Reconcile corporate credit cards, prepare related journal entries, and prepare monthly financial statements.
- Present quarterly financial results to the Finance Committee and oversee the semi-monthly payroll process.
- Ensure payroll complies with legislative and regulatory requirements and process employee RRSP contributions.
- Prepare quarterly forecasts, explain significant budget variances, and lead the annual operating and capital budgeting process.
- Present the annual budget to the Finance Committee and work with the CEO to finalize the consolidated annual budget.
- Lead and supervise Finance Department staff and daily operations, and improve financial processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Complete required tax, payroll, pension, and government filings.
- Coordinate the external year-end audit and prepare required schedules and working papers.
- Prepare annual financial statements in accordance with ASNPO requirements.
- Respond to auditor inquiries and provide requested financial information.
- Perform ad hoc duties and projects as required.
Requirements- Designated CPA
- 7+ years of accounting experience
- 4+ years of leadership experience
- Non for-profit experience is required
Compensation and Benefits- Salary: $160,000 to $180,000
