Position: Director of Family Services
Pay: $120,000 - $135,000 / Salary Depending on Experience
The Director of Family Services provides leadership, oversight, and strategic direction for hospice psychosocial, bereavement, spiritual care, volunteer, and family support services. This position ensures that patients and families receive compassionate, high-quality care that meets regulatory requirements and supports the hospice mission. The Director works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to enhance patient and family satisfaction, staff engagement, and program effectiveness.
Responsibilities:
- Direct and oversee family services, including social work, bereavement, spiritual care, and volunteer programs.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices to support quality patient and family care.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, accreditation, and organizational standards.
- Monitor departmental performance metrics and implement quality improvement initiatives.
- Participate in strategic planning and organizational development activities.
- Ensure timely psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual assessments and interventions.
- Oversee bereavement services for families and caregivers before and after the patient's death.
- Support interdisciplinary care planning and ensure family needs are addressed throughout the hospice experience.
- Assist with complex family situations and provide consultation to staff when needed.
- Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate Family Services team members.
- Promote a culture of compassion, accountability, and professional growth.
- Facilitate ongoing education and compliance training.
- Maintain appropriate staffing levels and scheduling practices.
- Represent the organization within the community and professional organizations.
- Foster relationships with referral sources, community partners, and healthcare providers.
- Participate in outreach and educational activities related to hospice and end-of-life care.
- Maintain documentation and reporting required by regulatory agencies.
- Participate in audits, surveys, and accreditation activities.
- Ensure adherence to hospice Conditions of Participation and organizational policies.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Social Work, Divinity, Counseling, Human Services, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
- Three (3) years of supervisory or management experience in hospice, healthcare, or human services.
- Knowledge of hospice operations, family support services, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Current applicable professional license, where required by discipline and state regulations, preferred.
- Travel is required. Trips may involve overnight travel.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
