Director of Enrollment & Student Retention (DESR) is responsible for leading and executing the strategy for student recruitment, enrollment, registration, and retention across Intrepid College Prep's two-school network serving approximately 850+ students in grades 5-12.
This role ensures that both campuses are fully enrolled, that enrollment systems are efficient and compliant, and that students remain enrolled and engaged from entry through promotion and graduation.
The Director of Enrollment & Student Retention plays a critical role in realizing Intrepid's mission by ensuring that every available seat is filled with a student and family who has access to a high-quality, college-preparatory education.
Enrollment Strategy & Execution (25%)- Lead the annual strategy for student recruitment and enrollment across both campuses
- Ensure both schools achieve and maintain full enrollment targets throughout the year
- Develop enrollment goals, metrics, and tracking systems aligned to network priorities
- Design and execute outreach strategies across Antioch and surrounding Nashville communities
- Partner with leadership to continuously improve enrollment funnels from inquiry - application - enrollment
Student Recruitment & Family Engagement (20%)- Build and maintain strong relationships with community-based organizations, feeder schools, and local partners
- Lead outreach efforts including school tours, open houses, community events, and family information sessions
- Collaborate with communications support to ensure clear, compelling, and accessible enrollment messaging
- Develop and execute strategies to increase application volume and improve yield rates
- Serve as a primary point of contact for prospective families through the enrollment process
Enrollment Operations & Compliance (20%)- Oversee all enrollment systems, including applications, registration, enrollment verification, and waitlists
- Ensure compliance with Tennessee charter school enrollment laws and reporting requirements
- Manage annual registration and re-enrollment processes for returning students
- Maintain accurate enrollment data systems and dashboards by grade level, campus, and demographic group
- Ensure timely execution of all enrollment milestones leading into the school year and throughout the year
Student Retention & Persistence Systems (15%)- Lead systems to improve student retention across grades 5-12
- Partner with school leaders to monitor attendance, withdrawal risk indicators, and enrollment stability
- Develop and implement re-engagement strategies for students at risk of disengagement or withdrawal
- Analyze retention trends and recommend system improvements to reduce attrition
- Support transition points between middle and high school to strengthen feeder patterns and persistence
Data, Accountability & Continuous Improvement (15%)- Use data to identify gaps and inform strategic adjustments in real time
- Maintain enrollment and retention dashboards to monitor key metrics, including:
- Total enrollment vs. target
- Application volume and conversion rates
- Yield by stage of enrollment funnel
- Retention and attrition trends
- Present enrollment and retention updates to network leadership and school teams
- Continuously refine systems, processes, and communication based on data and feedback
Network Collaboration & Leadership (5%)- Partner with school leaders and operations teams to ensure aligned execution of enrollment priorities
- Collaborate across the network to strengthen consistency in enrollment practices
- Model Intrepid's mission and core values in all interactions with families, staff, and community partner
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE- 5+ years of experience in enrollment management, school operations, student recruitment, or related project management roles
- Experience working in K-12 education, charter schools, or nonprofit organizations strongly preferred
- Strong track record of managing complex systems and multi-step operational processes
- Experience building relationships with families, schools, and community partners
- Proficient data fluency, including ability to track, interpret, and act on enrollment and retention data
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Additional Qualifications (Preferred)- Experience with student information systems (e.g., Infinite Campus or similar platforms)
- Experience with marketing, outreach, or digital recruitment strategies
- Spanish or multilingual fluency strongly preferred given community demographics
- Experience supporting student transitions or feeder pattern systems (5-12 alignment experience a plus)
$77,000 - $117,982 a year
COMPENSATION + EMPLOYMENT- Reports to: Senior Director of Operations & Finance
- Location: Antioch, Tennessee (on-site with community-based responsibilities)
- Compensation: Commensurate with experience and qualifications, aligned to Intrepid's 12-month salary bands.
- Employment Classification: This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). As an exempt role, this position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
Full-time 12-month employees are employed year-round and are expected to work during the summer months (beginning mid/late June) unless otherwise approved. They are eligible for school-designated holidays and breaks communicated on the annual work calendar.
This role requires flexibility to support enrollment events, family engagement activities, and school-based operations that may occur outside of traditional school hours, particularly during peak enrollment and registration periods.
