Full Job Description
Are you ready to lead the technical vision for one of Kansas City's premier news stations? KSHB is seeking a Director of Engineering who will shape the future of our broadcast and digital operations while building and mentoring a world-class technical team. WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Model and lead a culture of empathy, customer service, and leadership
  • Lead the research, design, installation, and repair of all television, digital, OTT, Internet Systems, high-power RF systems, production environments, and all associated equipment using current platforms and protocols
  • Manage building facilities and grounds, including HVAC, power generation, and security systems
  • Partner with the news department to develop, build, and support content workflow and support systems, including integration and problem-solving software, hardware, networking, and infrastructure, while facilitating a collaborative environment between the newsroom and production control staff
  • Motivate and manage a staff of professional and technical engineers, operators, and IT technicians
  • Develop and grow staff in technology and Scripps culture to meet the ongoing and future technological needs of the station, and evaluate staff growth opportunities and assessments
  • Establish and implement engineering policies and procedures
  • Evaluate and maintain the spectrum and broadband usage of the facility
  • Manage projects
  • Plan, design, and document current and future broadcast and digital systems
  • Collaborate with other departments to determine current and future studio, transmission, and workflow needs
  • Prepare and track capital, expense, repair, and maintenance budgets
  • Use the company purchasing management system to purchase and track assets and services, as well as replacement cycles
  • Evaluate equipment solutions
  • Keep the station compliant with the FCC Rules and Regulations, as well as related local, state, and federal regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
