The Role

We are seeking a strategic and execution-focused Director of Engineering to lead the design, build, and modernization of FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis) technology platforms. This role sits at the intersection of Finance, Data, and Technology, driving transformation across planning, forecasting, reporting, and financial analytics.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering scalable, governed, and high-performing systems that enable integrated planning, real-time insights, and enterprise-wide financial decision-making.

This leader will partner closely with Finance executives, data teams, and enterprise architecture to transition from fragmented reporting toward unified, data-driven FP&A capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technology Strategy & Transformation
  • Define and execute the FP&A technology roadmap, aligned with Finance transformation priorities (close acceleration, integrated planning, cost transparency).
  • Lead modernization from legacy platforms to cloud-based, scalable solutions (e.g., Anaplan, Workiva, Power BI, Databricks, or equivalent).
  • Drive adoption of real-time, data-driven planning and forecasting capabilities.

2. Engineering Leadership & Delivery
  • Lead and scale a high-performing engineering team across data engineering, application development, and platform support.
  • Oversee end-to-end delivery of FP&A solutions, including:
    • Planning & forecasting platforms
    • Management reporting and dashboards
    • Cost allocation and profitability models
  • Ensure strong SDLC, DevOps, and agile practices.

3. Data & Architecture Integration
  • Architect and enable integrated data flows across Finance, Treasury, Risk, and GL systems.
  • Drive alignment with enterprise data strategy, including:
    • Single source of truth for financial data
    • Standardized data models and hierarchies
    • Data quality, lineage, and governance
  • Partner with data engineering teams leveraging tools such as Spark, data pipelines, and modern data platforms.

4. Business Partnership
  • Act as a trusted partner to FP&A, Finance leadership, and business stakeholders.
  • Translate complex financial requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement in:
    • Planning cycle efficiency
    • Forecast accuracy
    • Reporting timeliness and insight generation

5. Governance, Risk & Controls
  • Ensure compliance with financial controls, audit requirements, and regulatory expectations.
  • Embed strong governance across:
    • Data integrity and reconciliation
    • Model validation and change management
    • Access and security controls

6. Vendor & Platform Management
  • Manage strategic relationships with key technology vendors (e.g., Anaplan, Workiva, SAP, Oracle).

Optimize vendor usage, licensing, and delivery models to balance cost, flexibility, and capability.

Qualifications & Experience

Required
  • 10+ years of experience in technology leadership, with strong exposure to Finance / FP&A systems.
  • Proven track record delivering enterprise-scale financial platforms or transformation programs.
  • Deep understanding of:
    • Planning & forecasting processes
    • Financial reporting and management analytics
    • Cost allocation and profitability modeling

Technical Expertise
  • Experience with FP&A platforms such as Anaplan, Hyperion, Workday Adaptive, or equivalent
  • Strong data engineering and integration background (e.g., SQL, Spark, ETL pipelines, cloud data platforms)
  • Familiarity with visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) and reporting frameworks
  • Knowledge of modern architecture patterns (API-driven, microservices, cloud-native)

Leadership & Stakeholder Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams spanning Finance, Data, and Engineering
  • Strong executive communication skills with experience supporting CFO, CIO, and senior leadership

Ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on execution

Preferred
  • Experience in financial services or highly regulated environments
  • Exposure to finance transformation initiatives (e.g., close acceleration, integrated business planning)
  • Familiarity with regulatory reporting and data governance frameworks
  • Experience optimizing or replacing legacy tools (e.g., Cognos, CDM, Excel-based processes)
