Candidates that are hired with less than one (1) year of experience in this title will begin at $126,931.00. Upon completion of one (1) year in the title and successful completion of the probationary period, the employee will receive a salary increase to $153,767.00.

SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Executive Court Administrator, the Director manages court-wide programs and procedures designed to monitor and control civil, criminal, and family case processing functions. Prepares required reports for the State Court Administrators Office (SCAO) which measure caseload and compliance with SCAO guidelines.
This is an at-will position serving at the pleasure of the Court which may unilaterally exercise the power to terminate your employment at any time, with or without cause.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Assists with identification and evaluation of caseload, identification of needed resources, and the development and implementation of policies, procedures and programs, making recommendations as appropriate.
• Manages reporting staff by assigning work, documenting work performance metrics and communicating work performance expectations, establishing professional development plans, providing training, implementing corrective actions plans, approving time, assuring appropriate staffing coverage, conducting periodic performance reviews, acknowledging accomplishments, providing assistance, and issuing discipline, operational goals, status changes and other pertinent information.
• Coordinates and implements a system of processes and procedures to control the pre-judgment and post-judgment progress of cases in all court divisions.
• Oversees the case management systems and personnel to ensure proper assignment of cases, scheduling of court proceedings, tracking of daily courtroom activity and transfer of cases.
• Monitors the Court's performance and recommends modifications to the caseflow management system as needed. Assists in identifying and implementing best practices and technological advances for enhancing case management and coordinates the implementation.
• Monitors individual and divisional dockets to effectively utilize judicial, support, and physical plant resources to avoid adjournments and ensure the timely disposition of scheduled cases as mandated by the State Court Administrative Office (SCAO).
• Coordinates and implements on-going centralized training programs for individuals responsible for caseload processing and case adjudication. Implements processes and creates materials to inform Judges, staff, ancillary agents, attorneys and litigants of special procedures required by the Court's customized systems.
• Oversees the management of court records (physical and electronic), ensuring proper organization, control, preservation, and accurate data entry.
• Oversees the assignment of transcriptionists and ensures the creation accurate and timely creation of the verbatim record of court proceedings.
• Works in coordination with Court IT to ensure court recording systems meet state technology guidelines and are properly used and maintained.
• Monitors changes in legal requirements impacting case management and court reporting, and coordinate the implementation of necessary procedural changes.
• Monitors requests for assistance within the courtrooms and provides information to assist the administrative division in budgeting for and obtaining equipment and interpreters needed to comply with the American with Disabilities Act.
• Analyzes data and prepares and submits caseload data for each division and to SCAO as required to ensure performance measures are met.
• Analyzes data and creates and presents reports for various docket review committees.
• Collaborates with the County Clerk's office and the Friend of the Court personnel to ensure accurate data entry into the case management system.
• Fosters a diverse and inclusive work environment through participation in relevant initiatives.
• Prepares and maintains a succession plan for positions within the department
• Serves as an advisor and coach to supervisors and managers.
• Provides data for grant opportunities and stakeholders.
• Oversees assignment of and payment to interpreters, house counsel and per diem court reporters.
• Oversees assignment of house counsel for the Family Division - Domestic and appellate counsel for Criminal Division. Oversees preparation of yearly judicial rotation schedules.
• Participates in Strategic Planning process.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Licenses and Certifications:
• Bachelor's degree, in business administration, public administration, management, or a related field preferred.
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible management experience.
• If an employee drives on behalf of the Court, the employee must possess and maintain a valid Michigan driver's license, no fault insurance and access to a vehicle to use in the performance of assigned duties.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite and relevant software and systems.
• Experience commensurate with the job that demonstrates the required skills and competencies may be considered in lieu of education requirement(s).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Additional Requirements:
• Successful completion of criminal and IV-D background check and fingerprinting.
