As the Director of Digital Studio, you will own the end-to-end digital customer experience across all touchpoints, including our web platforms, mobile ecosystem, and in-car connected app experiences.
You are a visionary design leader who refuses to compromise on craft. In this role, you will define the long-term digital product strategy, cultivate a world-class team of designers, and establish the organizational design required to scale. You aren't just managing pixels; you are shaping how millions of adventurous spirits interact with our brand, from their initial configuration online to their daily drives and backcountry expeditions.
This is a full-time, onsite role located at our design headquarters in Irvine, CA.

- Vision & Long-Term Strategy: Define and articulate a cohesive, multi-year digital experience vision that seamlessly binds web, mobile, and app platforms into a singular, iconic ecosystem.
- Creative Direction & Craft: Set an exceptionally high bar for visual and experiential craft. Ensure every transition, interface, and user flow reflects Rivian's premium, detail-oriented design philosophy.
- Compelling Digital Commerce: Partner closely with Sales and Marketing teams to build industry-leading, direct-to-consumer websites that tell the Rivian product story in a deeply compelling way while driving digital sales.
- Organizational Design & Leadership: Cultivate, mentor, and structure a high-performing Digital Studio. Build clear career paths, foster a culture of creative risk-taking, and optimize the team's structure and enterprise design tools to scale with our expanding product roadmap.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner deeply with Engineering, Product Management, Brand, and Physical Design teams to transform complex technical constraints into fluid, elegant user solutions.
- Creative Content Synergy: Foster tight-knit, collaborative relationships with creative content design teams to ensure media, storytelling, and digital interfaces integrate flawlessly.
- End-to-End Customer Journey: Oversee the entire digital lifecycle, ensuring a frictionless transition for the customer as they move from digital discovery and purchasing to physical ownership and daily app usage.
QualificationsWe are looking for a rare blend of strategic operator, passionate craftsperson, and empathetic leader.
- Experience: 10+ years of digital design experience, with at least 5 years leading and scaling multi-disciplinary design teams (UI/UX, visual, motion, and content) within a high-growth or premium consumer product space.
- Product & Go-To-Market Acumen: A deep, foundational understanding of product management and a proven track record of collaborating with Sales and Marketing to launch high-conversion direct-to-consumer digital experiences.
- Ecosystem Mastery: A portfolio showcasing world-class digital products across Web, iOS, Android, and connected hardware environments, utilizing modern digital sales/marketing tools and scaled enterprise design systems.
- Relationship Building: Demonstrated ability to build trusted partnerships across diverse creative disciplines, particularly with content creation, brand, and multimedia teams.
- Strategic & Organizational Acumen: Demonstrated success in organizational design-knowing how to structure teams, allocate resources, and build design operations that empower creatives to do their best work.
- Cross-Functional Influence: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to advocate for user-centric design and storytelling at the executive level, while speaking the language of engineering, marketing, sales, and product partners.
- Cultural Alignment: A passion for sustainability, innovation, and outdoor adventure.
Pay DisclosureThe salary range for this role is $201,300 - $287,500 for California based applicants. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs.
The successful candidate may be eligible for annual performance bonus and equity awards.
