Full Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Director of Compliance to build and run the strategic and operational backbone of the Compliance organization, reporting directly to the Chief Compliance Officer in GEICO's Legal Policy & Compliance department. This role owns the compliance function's strategy execution, enterprise GRC governance, and executive and Board reporting - operating as the leader's closest strategic partner in translating priorities into coordinated action across Compliance, IT, and the business. The Director will build frameworks, governance structures, and reporting infrastructure, and will assist with advancing the maturity of the compliance function.
The ideal candidate has built or refined compliance, risk, or governance programs from the in a complex organization, and is equally comfortable administering an enterprise GRC platform, managing a cross-functional program portfolio, and preparing materials for executive and senior leadership. This is a leadership role for someone who can operate with significant autonomy, translate ambiguous priorities into structured execution, and build credibility with senior stakeholders across Compliance, IT, Legal, and the business.
Responsibilities:
- Define and drive compliance strategy and organizational priorities in partnership with the Chief Compliance Officer
- Drive business alignment on compliance strategy across the organization, ensuring the right priorities are identified, communicated, and executed at every level
- Assist with implementation of technology to existing compliance team including representing compliance and partnering with risk on future implementation of enterprise GRC platform, coordinating with IT and business stakeholders on regulatory engagements, examinations, and audit responses
- Own program- and project-level strategy for the Compliance organization's cross-functional initiatives, tracking milestones, dependencies, and risk across concurrent workstreams with a continuous improvement mindset
- Translate complex compliance data and regulatory concepts into clear, decision-ready reporting and analytics for executive leadership.
- Build and sustain strategic partnerships across Business, IT, and Compliance teams to advance compliance objectives; represent the Chief Compliance Officer in cross-functional forums to drive alignment and follow-through on organizational priorities
- Assist with building compliance governance frameworks, and escalation paths from the ground up in a complex environment where formal processes may not yet exist
- Drive business alignment on compliance strategy across the organization, ensuring the right priorities are identified, communicated, and executed at every level
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, risk management, or a related field; advanced degree or certification (e.g., CCEP, CRCM, CRISC) a plus
- 8+ years of experience in compliance, risk, audit, or program management, including building programs or frameworks from the ground up
- Hands-on experience administering an enterprise GRC platform and coordinating regulatory examinations or audits with IT and business stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex data and regulatory concepts into clear reporting for executive leadership and senior leadership audiences
- Strong program/project management skills, with a track record of managing multiple concurrent cross-functional initiatives to completion
- Insurance, financial services, or other highly regulated industry experience highly preferred
Annual Salary
$120,950.00 - $212,175.00
The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate's work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
