Position Summary Mad River Community Hospital is seeking an experienced
Director of Clinical Nursing to support operational oversight and clinical leadership across Medical/Surgical, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Emergency Department (ED), House Supervisor team, and Home Health.
Working in close partnership with the Chief Nursing Officer, this role helps coordinate nursing operations, support department managers and supervisors, and ensure high standards of patient care, regulatory compliance, and staff engagement. The Director plays a key role in translating organizational and nursing leadership priorities into effective day-to-day operations across assigned departments.
Key Responsibilities - Support the Chief Nursing Officer in the oversight of clinical nursing services across assigned departments.
- Provide operational guidance and support to nurse managers, supervisors, and clinical leaders.
- Assist with implementation of strategic, operational, and quality initiatives developed by nursing and executive leadership.
- Promote consistent nursing standards, policies, and best practices across departments.
- Monitor and support department quality improvement, patient safety, and patient experience initiatives.
- Collaborate with department leaders on staffing, productivity, and workforce planning.
- Participate in budget planning, resource management, and operational performance monitoring.
- Support recruitment, development, and retention of nursing staff and leaders.
- Ensure compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards.
- Work collaboratively with physicians, clinical leaders, and interdisciplinary teams to support effective patient care delivery and patient flow.
Qualifications Education - Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required
- Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred
Licensure - Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
Experience - Minimum 5-8 years of progressive nursing leadership experience
- Experience in acute care hospital settings required
- Prior leadership experience overseeing multiple service lines or departments preferred
- Background in medical/surgical, critical care, emergency services, or hospital operations strongly preferred
Skills & Competencies - Strong leadership and team support skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with clinical and executive leadership
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and accreditation standards
- Experience supporting quality improvement and operational initiatives
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
