The Director of Campus Dining provides strategic oversight and performance management of contracted dining service providers across the campus. This role acts at the organization's primary liaison with the contracted vendor, ensuring delivery of high-quality dining services that meet contractual obligations, financial targets, and the expectations of students, faculty, staff and guests.
Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality, Public Administration, or a related field, or equivalent of education and experience.
- 5+ years of dining contract execution or business development experience
- Experience in higher education environment
- Proven record in managing third-party service providers and holding vendors accountable to performance standards
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills
- Strong financial acumen, including reviewing P&L statements, budgets, and contract financial models
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience with food service contracts
- Knowledge of RFP processes and procurement policies
Supervisory Responsibilities:- Provide direct supervision, coaching and direction to the Sustainability Coordinator including goal setting, regular check-ins and annual evaluations.
- Ensure alignment of sustainability initiatives with campus dining strategy, institutional priorities, and dining vendor expectations.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of sustainability programs, ensuring measurable outcomes and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and approve budgets, resources, and expenditures related to sustainability programs to ensure effective and efficient use of funds.
Duties/Responsibilities:- Serve as the primary liaison between ASA, SUNY Stony Brook and the contracted dining services provider.
- Evaluates and monitors contractor performance to determine the necessity for amendments, extension of the contract, and compliance with contractual obligations.
- Conduct regular business reviews and performance evaluations with the dining service provider.
- Hold dining service provider accountable for quality, financial performance, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.
- Lead contract compliance audits, ensuring adherence to all contractual terms, policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage contract renewals, amendments, and RFP processes as needed.
- Develop and implement a campus dining strategy in collaboration with the dining services provider to enhance student satisfaction.
- Develops and implements strategies and programs in collaboration with the dining service provider and relevant University departments
- Monitor financial performance of dining services, including commissions, and expense structures.
- Review vendor financial reports, budgets, and forecasts to ensure accuracy and alignment with contract terms.
- Identify opportunities to optimize revenue, control costs, and improve financial outcomes for the organization and university.
- Assists and provides input into the formulation, development, and/or revision of operating policies, procedures, and strategies for the dining program
- Executive oversight in the executing and planning of facility renovations and/or new buildouts.
- Gather and analyze feedback from students, faculty, and staff regarding dining services.
- Partner with student groups and stakeholders to enhance satisfaction and engagement.
- Ensure the dining service provider delivers diverse, inclusive, and high-quality dining options, including dietary accommodations.
- Ensure the dining service provider is in compliance with health and safety regulations, food safety standards and university policies.
- Drive innovation in dining programs, including sustainability initiatives, technology integration, and new service concepts.
- Service as the central point of coordination for dining related campus initiatives and events.
